Senior Software Engineer - Java, C, Linux administration, PHP, Hybrid, 1 day a month in the office (Manchester) About the Company My client is a global software solution and telecoms solutions provider.
About the Role The role's key responsibilities are to effectively and efficiently perform the design and development of enhancements to our product suite and deliver customer projects.
This role requires solving challenging technical problems and defining the best practices and standards for software development across the business.
My client is looking for an experienced full-stack software developer who can cover the full software development lifecycle: Responsibilities Requirements Capture – working closely with Solution Architects and Product Management to gather and estimate functional and non-functional requirements.
Design – Production of detailed software designs and prototyping of high-quality software.
Development – Produce and release software to NetEngage processes with an exceptional level of quality and within defined timescales.
Debugging and problem solving.
Testing – Perform integration and unit testing including the development of automated tests.
Deployment – Deployment of software to in-house lab systems and customer environments.
Support – Ongoing support of software in customer solutions.
Performing troubleshooting and fault resolution.
Qualifications Ideally educated to degree level or similar Required Skills Bachelor's Degree or HND in a software engineering or related discipline Linux OS administration (RedHat / Rocky Linux preferred) Java and / or C SQL database development and administration (PostgreSQL preferred) HTTP / HTML & CSS / JavaScript XML and JSON REST / SOAP Web Services Shell scripting IP networking, routing, tracing and troubleshooting Software version control systems (e.g.
Subversion / Git) Project tracking tools (e.g.
Jira) Use of software unit testing and test automation tools Preferred Skills Python PHP JQuery Experience in the telecommunications industry Experience with telecoms protocols (e.g.
Diameter, SIP, MAP, SMPP) Virtualisation technologies (e.g.
VMware, OpenStack KVM) Containerisation technologies (e.g.
Docker, Kubernetes) Public Cloud technologies (e.g.
AWS, GCP) Deployment Automation Tools (e.g.
Jenkins, Vagrant, Terraform) Security CIS Benchmarks / OWASP Best Practices Awareness of ISO 9001 Professional Experience As an experienced, senior Software Engineer you will have an immediate impact on the business and therefore a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a software development team is preferred Location You will work remotely but with regular visits to the Greater Manchester area (expected a minimum of once per month but more frequently as required).
