Job summary An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified sonographer to join the Ultrasound Team in Buckinghamshire Healthcare.
Full time and part time hours will be considered.The Ultrasound service is currently provided on two main hospital sites: Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe General Hospital.
General ultrasound services are provided at our peripheral sites at Amersham General Hospital and Thame Community Hospital.
Main duties of the job The Sonography team perform a broad range acute and planned examinations including general medical, obstetric and vascular ultrasound scans.The team rotate around the hospital sites as required and provide a week end service at Stoke Mandeville Hospital to support AE, IP and emergency O&G services.The department is actively involved in student Sonographer training along with the education and development of their existing staff base, the development of extended Sonographer roles is keenly promoted by the consultant team within RadiologyObstetric imaging service is supported by team of screening coordinators and a specialist Fetal Medicine Unit.
The US department has ten general ultrasound rooms and seven obstetric scan rooms.
The scan rooms are equipped with modern GE and Canon ultrasound equipment.To work as part of a team providing an ultrasound service in the Obstetric/Gynae and Radiology Departments.
The post holder will be expected to work across all sites.The post holder is expected to be able to perform a wide range of general abdominal, small parts, obstetric and gynaecological examinations.Ongoing staff supervision and training is a significant element of this role.
This will regularly include medical staff in Radiology, Obs.
and Gynae and occasionally from other specialities.

Person Specification Education & Qualifications Essential BSc in Radiograph or equivalent radiography qualification OR a Health care qualification to degree level standard PGD in Ultrasound imaging or equivalent ultrasound imaging qualification.
Plus, relevant experience in US practices Evidence of CPD MSc in Ultrasound or equivalent experience including general ultrasound Evidence of DQASS monitoring in the last 12 month HCPC or RCT registration Desirable Regular attendance on short courses and conferences Counselling Skills Course Completion IR(ME)R 2017 eLFH referrer course or equivalent Experience Essential Sound understanding of cross sectional radiography imaging Excellent experience in obstetrics, gynaecology and general medical ultrasound A wide range of non-obstetric scanning Skills in counselling and giving bad news Equipment management and Quality Assurance in US or radiology Ability to show good use and understanding of US equipment to use image manipulation Teaching and training skills Assertiveness Desirable Individual Performance review Experience with dealing with complaints Management experience in either US or radiology Skills & Knowledge Essential Extensive knowledge of cross sectional anatomy gained through ultrasound practice.
