Job summary *An exciting new opportunity has arisen for 1WTE band 4 Assistant Psychologist to join our Adult Inpatient Psychological Services Team in South Essex* We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to work in our well-established inpatient psychological services team.
The post holder will be based in the south of our trust, sharing their time between Basildon Mental Health Unit and Rochford Hospital.
Within the north area we have inpatient sites in Colchester, Chelmsford and Harlow.
Within the south area, we have inpatient sites in Basildon and Rochford.
The ability to be able to travel between different sites across the locality is essential.
The primary role of the successful candidate will be to support and assist our Consultant and Lead Psychologists/ Psychological Therapists, to carry out administration tasks, assist with service evaluation and facilitate recovery-based psychoeducation groups on our inpatient wards under supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist/ Psychological Therapist.

Main duties of the job We are looking for a Psychology graduate with experience of working with people with severe mental health problems, who may have worked in inpatient settings and have experience of delivering or facilitating manualised group treatments.
There is also an expectation to contribute to and support the MDT in developing psychologically informed care on the wards.
The post holder will be required to assist the Consultant and Lead Psychologists/ Psychological Therapists, to carry out service-related administration tasks, and to support with service evaluation projects.
In addition the post holder will also be required to deliver psychoeducational and manualised psychological group interventions to service users on our inpatient wards, under the supervision of a qualified and experienced inpatient Psychologist/Psychological Therapist.
The ability to be able to travel between different sites across the locality is essential.

Job description Job responsibilities The Adult Inpatient Psychological service provides psychological input to service users admitted to hospital in acute mental health crisis.
Service users present with a wide range of mental health issues, and come from diverse backgrounds.
Whilst there are challenges to working with service users presenting in acute states, there are also opportunities for gaining clinical experience working with a broad range of clinical presentations.
We, the Adult Inpatient Psychological Services team aim to understand the impact of trauma and adverse experiences on an individuals crisis presentation within the hospital setting.
We work together with our MDT colleagues and wider Care unit colleagues to ensure our Service Users experience purposeful inpatient admissions and timely discharges.
EPUTs Adult Inpatient Psychological Services team cover 6 inpatient sites across Essex.
Each site has a Principle Lead overseeing the area/areas.
Our team is comprised of Principle/Senior Practitioners, Arts Psychotherapists, trainees and CAPS.
We acknowledge the excellent day-to-day work of our staff team and also pride ourselves on new creative practice as evidenced by recent innovations; such as our Out of Hours access to psychological groups scheme and our nationally recognised staff training packages.
The Trust has excellent links with Essex University and Hertfordshire clinical psychology doctoral training programmes, as well as EPUTs in-house CAP training programme.
As an Assistant Psychologist, your main responsibilities will include: To assist the Consultant and Lead Psychologists/ Psychological Therapists To assist with service-related administration tasks, such as updating and evaluating our referral database.
To assist with service evaluation and audits, including collecting and analysing data and producing reports to be shared with MDTs and service users.
To assist in the development and facilitation of groups as appropriate.
To assist in the formulation of care plans involving the psychological treatment/ management of service users worked with, under the supervision of a qualified professional.
To assist with teaching and training initiatives.
To assist in the development and implementation of new clinical initiatives.
To use a computer as necessary for clinical work, including literature searches, word processing, developing training packages and information leaflets, maintaining psychology service database, emailing, report writing and other tasks as necessary for the efficient running of the service and/or training needs.

Person Specification Education/Qualifications Essential BPS accredited undergraduate degree in Psychology Eligible for Graduate BPS registration Skills/Experience Essential Experience of working in teams and of interacting effectively with staff from all disciplines.
Experience of interacting with people with mental health problems, disabilities/ personality difficulties.
Desirable Experience of assisting in the provision of care to service users in care settings.
