We have a brand-new role for a Head of Delivery to lead and manage the detailed design and construction of the metro investment programme.
Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) are delivering a programme of enhancement projects, ensuring that the provision of new assets and the upgrade or expansion of current assets are fit for purpose in supporting our expanding metro network and its future operation.
This is a critical role for the organisation as we go through an exciting period of change, establishing a multi-modal Delivery Directorate and strive to be a best-in-class delivery authority.
You will manage a diverse programme of projects including buy before you board, substation upgrades, Line 1 renewals and Wednesbury depot expansion.
At a senior level, you will oversee the performance of delivery managers, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Working closely with senior management, local authorities, Midland Metro Limited, National Grid, and internal stakeholders, you will strive to maximise business case outcomes while strengthening TfWMs reputation for exceptional project delivery.
Metro investment forms a major part of TfWMs £1.6bn capital transport investment programme, and you will be responsible for an estimated annual spend of c. £200m.
We need someone who isnt afraid of a challenge and wants to work within an agile and progressive environment at the vanguard of best practice What you will be doing Lead a multi-agency team, overseeing detailed development and construction activities of major metro infrastructure projects Establish, build and maintain collaborative relationships with WMCA colleagues, relevant local authorities, funding bodies and other stakeholders as appropriate Provide technical leadership across Midland Metro Alliance (MMA) and supply chain within a commercial context Integrate technical and functional design principles to deliver best value Lead the preparation and delivery of reports for senior management, elected members, WMCA committees, programme boards and Local Cabinet Manage budgets and ensure that financial administration, monitoring and reporting is of the highest standard Manage and direct the activities and performance of MMA Whats essential.
Evidence of successfully delivering high-value, complex civil engineering infrastructure programmes and projects on time and to budget.
Evidence of leading, managing and developing high-performing, multi-discipline teams Experience of commissioning technical services through the procurement and management of the supply chain Knowledge and experience of managing Local Authority governance and processes.
Experience of working with local enterprise partnerships, DfT, local highways and planning authorities, emergency services, Highways England and other relevant stakeholders Previous experience of working in a sensitive political environment.
Thorough understanding of CDM, construction health and safety, highway and town planning legislation, asset management.
A strong understanding of safety requirements and experience of managing projects in a safety critical environment Excellent negotiation and influencing skills Demonstrable and thorough working knowledge of NEC4 and NEC3 contract options How to apply.

Hybrid working and location.
