Job summary An opportunity hasarisen for an enthusiastic, conscientious and dedicated maintenancecraftsperson (Electrical) to join a teamof engineering craftsperson responsible for the maintenance and repair ofelectrical plant and equipment at buildings maintained by CHoICE FacilitiesServices.
The role will require the post holder to undertake the role of CompetentPerson (CP) as defined within Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) 00 for multipleengineer services and support CHoICE to meet its statutory, mandatory and bestpractice commitments to its existing partners.
As part of the role, the post holder willbe required to be flexible and have a wide ranging knowledge of electricalsystems to ensure maintenance, repair and installation activities can becompleted in the most efficient and effective manner whilst providing the bestpossible services.
As part of highly diverse role, the successful candidatewill have the opportunity operate and maintain a large scale electrical systemwhich includes: Low Voltage (LV) distribution boards, LV switchboards, LV smallpower distribution, general and emergency lighting systems, theatre operatinglights, nurse call systems, CCTVsystems, swipe access systems and uninterruptable power supplies.The rolewill also require the participation in the current on-call rota and undertakeovertime when the service needs dictate for which appropriate payments will bemade.
Main duties of the job All applicants must have a positive,friendly and co-operative manner whilst being prepared to be flexible to meetthe service needs of a large Acute NHS Trust.
Key elements of role will requirethe applicant to use his/her own initiative when undertaking a range of problemsolving scenarios to allow for a satisfactory completion of assigned taskswhilst adapting to the changing demands of the role.
Furthermore, the role willrequire the posts holder to provide technical advice, guidance and where necessarysupervision to other CFS staff, contractors and Trust colleagues alike.Successful applicants will need tohave a knowledge of plumbing and mechanical systems with a detailed knowledgeof electrical systems typically found within a large NHS Trust.
Completion of aBTEC/ONC, City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in electrical engineering orequivalent is essential as well as the completion of a formally recognised andaccredited apprenticeship within a relevant engineering discipline.

Desirable C & G 2391 Inspection & Testing of Electrical systems, City & Guilds 2377 Portable Appliance Testing, LV Competent Person Certificate Physical skills Essential Is able to travel and work at all Trust sites, Is able to have the ability to undertake moderate physical activities for long periods throughout a typical working day, Is able to complete tasks which require short intensive bursts of effort before returning to moderate physical, Undertake regular moving and handling activities, Requirement for highly developed physical dexterity, for hand and eye co-ordination and manipulation of fine tools Skills and Knowledge Essential Detailed knowledge of the current UK Electrical Wiring Regulations (18th Edition) Able to use his/her own initiative when undertaking a range of problem solving scenarios to allow for a satisfactory completion.
To have the ability to adapt to the changing demands of the role including the reaction to emergency situations, Able to prioritising his/her own workload and workloads of others ensuring that high quality patient care and SLA targets are achieved.
