Job summary Are you a dynamic midwife with a passion for complex antenatal care with the inspiration to improve the quality and safety of care for women and babies?If this is you, we are looking to recruit an experienced midwife into the role of the Maternity Assessment Suite Manager.Within your role you will be responsible for providing clinical oversight and midwifery leadership for the Maternity Assessment Suite.
This role will encompass both managerial and clinical responsibilities, with time dedicated to the managerial role and clinical components.As the named midwifery lead for the Maternity Assessment Suite you will work in close collaboration with the obstetric and midwifery and multi-disciplinary team to support the delivery of safe, effective and evidence based antenatal care.
You will provide clinical expertise and visible leadership and will be responsible for the overall organisation and delivery of antenatal care pathways so that standards of professional and clinical practice are in place and monitored to ensure that women receive high quality care that is safe.As the manager you will be responsible for work force, people and performance management to include timely roster planning, management of the sickness absence policy and budget.Interview Date: To be Confirmed Main duties of the job Ensure a high standard of midwifery care is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet women's needs in accordance with agreed local and National standards and evidence based guidelines.Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care.Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care.Communicate closely with the Maternity Unit and Delivery Suite coordinator's to manage women with a concerning clinical picture.Staff Management and education and training of junior staff.You will be responsible for ensuring the midwifery team and care support team are adequately supported and developed to deliver excellent care with compassionYou will be responsible for ensuring that the midwifery team and care support team are adequately resourced and organised to deliver excellent care with compassion About us As a teaching hospital and an organisation committed to continuous learning, we offer a broad range of education and training to staff and students/trainees/other learners.You are expected to fulfil mandatory training requirements, engage in continuous learning and support education and training of others commensurate to their role.We have 10000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients.

Job description Job responsibilities Maternity triage is a fact paced, acute environment requiring autonomous practice and effective team working.
It requires prompt decision making skills and appropriate and timely escalation when necessary to ensure safe care provision.Duties to include, but not be limited to: Working collaboratively with the midwifery and obstetric teams to ensure a seamless and robust complex antenatal care pathway.Day to day management of the maternity assessment suite ensuring high standards of safe care and a positive experience for women and their families.Support the team to work towards the implementation of the Birmingham Symptom Specific Obstetric Triage System (BSOTS)Liaison and communication with the wider multi-disciplinary team including the escalation of women with a changing clinical need.Management of staff rosters, appraisal and training as well as staff development and support.Lead by example.
Uphold the Trust values at all times.Support senior management with the implementation of local and national drivers including the Ockenden recommendations.Management of budgets and the environment in line with the Trusts STAR assurance frameworkDevelop and implement relevant guidelines to ensure that pathways of care are in place and are evidence based.Audit compliance to local standards, national safety standards and agree actions for improvement as required.
Person Specification Qualifications & Education Essential Registered Midwife Degree in Midwifery NMC recognised Mentorship qualification Desirable Masters/working towards PMA Knowledge & Experience Essential Evidence of sound knowledge base in relation complex antenatal care Ability to implement changes within practice Knowledge of risk management and clinical governance and the relevance to practice Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures Knowledge of local and national drivers in maternity services Recent Triage experence Desirable Evidence of multi-professional working
