About the business unit Mott MacDonald's Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers both project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across the built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors.
APD delivers services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through the technical disciplines of programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health and care management.
Overview of role Our Climate Change team is seeking an experienced senior carbon analyst to join our talented advisory team in the UK. The successful candidate will have solid experience within a similar role and will be actively involved in the delivery of decarbonisation consultancy services for a wide range of projects globally, ranging from infrastructure carbon management to strategy and advisory work.
Your duties and accountabilities will typically include:
Manage and take responsibility for the delivery of carbon footprinting, lifecycle assessment, and carbon management projects.Successful delivery of projects to quality, time, and budget requirements.Assess the performance of projects against national and international standards as well as industry best practices.Inform the development of project design with regards to operational and embodied carbon.Providing strategic advice to clients to align their policies and processes to achieve net zero ambitions.Develop data analysis as part of carbon assessment, ensuring traceability and robust calculations.Report writing and presenting final results to our clients.Stakeholder engagement - at all levels within the company, across our client base and the wider industry.Professional excellence - be actively involved in the climate change community in Mott MacDonald with a focus on decarbonisation.People and capability – mentoring more junior staff to help build their own carbon skills and capabilities, with potential for line management.Preparation of bid submissions and developing opportunities, working in collaboration with Account Leaders and carbon specialists across a broad range of clients within the Transport, Water, Built Environment and Energy sectors.The successful candidate will be proactive, passionate, and eager to play a part in a growing team. We welcome applications from consultants with the following experience:
Experience in the delivery of carbon footprinting / lifecycle assessment (LCA) / carbon management projects across a range of project types (delivery against scope, quality, and budget), especially in the infrastructure sector.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and collaborate at all levels both within the company and across the wider industry.Good knowledge of legislation and policy influencing carbon and climate change, of key methodologies and data sources associated with carbon footprinting and carbon management, such as ISO14064, PAS2060, PAS2080.Good knowledge of efforts in the industry to reduce the carbon impact of energy, transportation, construction and the built environment.Capacity for flexible delivery – ability to think strategically as well as deliver shorter term detail.Experience of net zero, carbon in construction, and environmental impact assessment, and working within EIA teams.You need to have a degree/post-graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline.Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively.Self-motivated and enthusiastic with the ability to work as part of a team and independently as required.Chartership from a relevant professional institution.Experience of mentoring / managing junior staff.Understanding of related environmental topics such as air quality and climate change adaptation and resilience.Knowledge of low-carbon materials/processes/innovations in construction and the built environment.Experience in the use of LCA tools such as OneClick, E-Tool, SimaPro.We offer some fantastic benefits including: Pension matched up to 7%Life insuranceAn annual professional institution subscriptionContinuous development opportunities – because we want you to thrive.Agile/flexible working – because life isn't 9-5.Enhanced parental leave; shared parental leave policies – for parents and caregivers.Flexible benefits that suit you.Wellbeing support including access to an independent Employer Assistance Scheme, wellbeing champions and access to learning and support resources.Apply now, or for more information about our application process, click here.
