Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Surgical seniornursing team at Mid Yorkshire NHS Teaching Trust, as the Unit Manager of Gate34 at Pinderfields General Hospital.
Gate 34 is a 38 bedded acute ward delivering care predominantlyfor urology and gynaecology patients.
Gate 34 also provide care for patientsfrom outlying specialities when required.
Gate 34 provides pre and postoperative care as well as conservative management of patients.The Surgical Division will be recruiting a highly motivatedand innovative experienced senior nurse.
The successful candidate will haveexcellent interpersonal and communication skills with a flexible approach toimproving patient outcomes.
A proven ability to work in collaborationwith a range of clinicians / managers across differing Clinical Divisions isessential.

Main duties of the job The post holder will be responsible for the operationalmanagement of the ward and effective line management of the ward based team.You will be working collectively with the leadership team, have professionalaccountability and responsibility for the delivery of high-quality clinicalcare.
Through clinical leadership, knowledge and demonstrating ofthe Trusts core values will ensure that the ward/department team is informed,trained, and developed to enable care to be delivered to patients.
This will beachieved through appropriate deployment and supervision of staff, education andprofessional development.

Job description Job responsibilities CLINICAL LEADERSHIPThe Ward Manager will create, lead and maintain a nursingculture which is open to change, new ideas, concepts and innovation, whilstinfluencing Trust strategy and direction.

Developing annual ward objectives, establishingservice developments in line with Directorate and organisational plans.

Being proactive in the development andfacilitation of the 10 key roles for nursing.
Retaining a productive workforce.
Instigating, managing and facilitating others tolead organisational change for the benefit of patients.
Actively being involved in the delivery of anynew strategies for patient care that impacts on their clinical environment andtaking the lead in promoting the nursing contribution.
Fostering and demonstrating creativity, energyand inspiration in leading the nursing team.
Supervising and facilitating staff in guidedstructured reflection in complete situations, utilising a range of skills whichmay include clinical incident analysis and practice review processes.
Supporting and contributing to the TrustsShared Leadership practice development councils.

Fulfilling the role of the senior nurse bleepholder when required in Division or when rostered.
