If the answer is yes, then the opportunity below is for youThe opportunity:Crown House technologies are the specialist MEP delivery unit of Laing O'Rourke and are currently recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team at our Ellison Institute of Technology.The Institute continues work in cancer research, disease prevention, and global health policy, along with providing educational programming for students from around the globe.A newly constructed building in The Oxford Science Park will be home to further research laboratories and educational spaces, laid out to promote collaboration and flexibility.
This includes a roof-top wooden geodesic dome overlooking the surrounding tree canopy.The two buildings will be connected by an elevated tree covered walkway to enhance access and promote collaboration between both sites.
What will the role look like?Preparation and management of interim applications for payment and agreeing certifications.Measurement, valuation and agreement of work sections.Draft, manage and settle subcontracts.Management and reporting of monthly costs.Drafting and preparation of claims.Preparation and agreement of final account.Day to day management of any trainee, assistant quantity surveyor and/or quantity surveyor.Negotiating with client's representatives, sub-contractors and other consultants to achieve project results whilst maintaining group relationships.Advise project management on contractual implications of intended courses of action.Advise on commercial risks within the project or projects.Preparation and management of monthly contract review reports, weekly Business Plan Review (BPR) information, monthly management accounts information and contractual and commercial input into Project Business Plan, as required.Assist with the establishment of the project "budget to build "from the Contract awardIdentify and agree change and implement change control process.Ensure that contract documents are properly executed prior to project commencement.Communicating clearly & confidently to a professional standard.Keep your manager fully advised of any issue/risk which has arisen or might arise and which could affect the business/project.What skills & experience are we looking for?Experience in MEP quantity surveying from a specialist MEP subcontractor or main contractor.Autonomously delivered a small to medium project or; Performed a support role to a commercial manager/senior commercial manager on a larger project and/or managed an area (£25m) of a larger project.Degree qualified in relevant discipline (Quantity Surveying)A good knowledge of coins, for both sub-contract and cost management.A desire to learn the risk and opportunity process both internal and with our client.A drive to learn and grow to the next grade.
