Your New Company Were delighted to be partnering with a prominent Northern Irish Public / Private Company for a Lawyer (Solicitor OR Barrister) to join the In House Legal team, for a 12 Month Maternity cover contract.
The companys Head Office is based in Belfast City Centre.

Your New Role In your new role as the Company Lawyer, you will support the General Counsel, Senior Legal Counsel and Senior Company Lawyers in the provision of high quality internal and external legal services across all parts of the business, with particular emphasis on commercial and corporate matters, property matters and corporate governance matters.
You will be accountable primarily to the Senior Company Lawyers and the following reflects typical duties but is not intended to be an exhaustive list of duties: Commercial legal agreements with suppliers and stakeholders, assisting the Senior Company Lawyers concerning matters of employment, fraud, litigation.
Particular responsibility for the provision of legal services for property, assets and estates (including intangible property rights), and services required to support the compliant and cost-effective delivery of the estates function holding an ongoing objective to reduce external legal service dependency and increase internal knowledge, skill and efficiency (especially when dealing with routine or repeat legal issues).
From time to time deputise for the Senior Company Lawyers or General Counsel and to engage at a high level on complex, corporate, legal and governance issues for the Board, GCE and the Executive team directly (occasionally at Executive Committee meetings, project meetings or possibly at the Board).
Manage the external legal panel more generally and provide administrative support to billing and commissioning of work.
Help to ensure the smooth, properly governed commissioning and delivery of legal service and onward communication or interpretation of technical and often sensitive advice.
Draft Group policy documents, advise on company secretariat matters, data protection and information law, familiarity with procurement matters, major development projects, corporate governance, and provide advice on regulatory law and related EU requirements e.g.
public service agreements, the MSFM with government, EU transport packages and their implications for the Company and NI Transport industry.
Ensure appropriate consideration is given to the organisations equality duties as well as specific commitments associated with your job role.
What You Need To Succeed As the Company Lawyer you will; Be a qualified solicitor or barrister holding a Northern Ireland practising certificate or entitled to hold one.
Experience of working in either a multifaceted business/organisation or a fast paced/demanding legal environment.
Demonstrable experience of providing strategic legal advice and risk mitigation on complex projects to achieve successful results.
Proven ability to build trusted relationships and effectively communicate with, influence at senior management level.
Ability to delicately manage sensitive and confidential matters.
