Main duties of the job As a Sous Chef at Avery Healthcare's Brentwood Arches Care Home, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in leading a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive, and high-quality culinary service to the residents.
Your focus will be on preparing modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced, supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, and ensuring all food preparation meets the highest hygiene standards.

If this sounds like the place for you, wed love to hear from youABOUT THE ROLEYour focus asSous Chefwill be tosupportthe head chef in leading a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive,and high-quality culinary service, which contributes to the overall well-being of the residents and is achieved withinbudget.Other responsibilitieswillinclude: Preparing modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced and in accordance with IDDSI guidance.
Supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, as directed by the Head Chef, providing instruction and demonstration to unqualified staff on simple food preparation activities.
Understandingthe principles of safe food handling to ensure that all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen meets the highest hygiene standards.
Supportingall culinary team members in fullyunderstandingthe Avery Food safety management system.
ABOUT YOUTo besuccessfulin your application, youmust live our values of caring,support,honesty, respect, and accountabilityin all that you do.Our ideal candidatemust: Holdarelevant catering qualification City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent.
Have a minimum of 1 year of catering experience.
Demonstratecompassionandcommitmentto the delivery of high-quality culinary services to residents.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential To be successful in this role, you must hold a relevant catering qualification, such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ, and have a minimum of 1 year of catering experience.
You must also demonstrate compassion and commitment to the delivery of high-quality culinary services to residents, and be adaptable and flexible in your approach.
