The department of oncology are looking to appoint a LAS ST Higher (SCF level) doctor for a fixed term period of 6 months.
The posts will commence on 5th February 2025 until 5th August 2025.
The post-holder will have the opportunity to gain experience in an area of oncology similar to that of other trainees in oncology.
The post will be predominantly ward based but with opportunity to attend one clinic a week.
The post will participate on the on call rota.
The successful candidates will work together with the wider clinical team of Consultants, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Junior Doctors and other Allied Health Professionals to provide high quality, safe and effective clinical care.
Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
Applicants must hold Full GMC registration with a licence to practise or show evidence that it will be issued by start date.
We are not able to sponsor candidates for GMC registration.
Main duties of the job This post is aimed at at ST Higher level.
The post will start as soon as possible.
The post-holder will have the opportunity to gain experience in oncology that is similar to other junior posts in oncology.
We encourage uptake of training opportunities and will support relevant courses for the candidate's education and training needs.
The post will be based in the South West Wales Cancer Centre, Swansea.
The role will mainly be supporting the inpatient unit, in addition to providing medical input to the chemotherapy and radiotherapy units.
Even though the posts will not be recognised for training the successful candidates will have the opportunity to attend teaching and participate in audit, quality improvement and research projects where possible similar to the Wales Deanery Trainees.
The successful candidates will also have dedicated educational supervisor.
These posts will participate on the medical on call rota and have similar responsibilities to the training grades.
There is a study leave budget available and associated funding will be considered by the Medical Director Office and approved for educational opportunities.
About us Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people.

The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.

An ideal base for exploring South-West Wales, there is also much on offer for visitors in Swansea itself.
Swansea has a range of shops, cosy cafes, great restaurants, art galleries as well as being able to offer good outdoor lifestyle with its beautiful coastline and beaches on the Gower Peninsula.
Swansea also has excellent sporting facilities including the Wales National pool and stadium home to the Ospreys and Swansea City Football Club.
