Job summary We are looking for a new Ward Clerk to join our team - are you: Someone who feels enthusiastic about being part of a professional and dynamic team An empathetic, caring person who enjoys supporting others A confident, excellent communicator who really wants to make a difference to patients and their families Able to act as a host and receptionist for the ward, ensuring that patients, relatives and visitors receive a friendly and efficient service whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times Proficient in digital skills Able to accurately coordinate the medical information and documents to ensure exceptional patient care Able to work autonomously as well as within the team, using initiative and maintaining a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy at all times without immediate access to line supervision Main duties of the job Perform reception desk duties, dealing with patient enquiries, directing patients to waiting areas/beds and ensuring effective communication at all times Ensure that relevant data forms are completed within the set timescales and submitted via the appropriate database Answer the telephone and take messages Report items for repair and liaise with the works department by following agreed procedures Order stores for the ward using the Trust's ordering systems Monitor ward activity through IT systems and databases Liaise with other departments and disciplines Ensure reports and referral letters are escalated to the appropriate people/department within timescales Prioritise work load and work on own initiative About us Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust (HDFT) cares for the population in Harrogate and the local area, as well as across North Yorkshire, Leeds and parts of the North East.

Job description Job responsibilities Provide appropriate cover for other ward clerks as required during sickness, absence and annual leave Assist with training of new staff Assist with any non-clinical duties which can enable clinical staff to focus on patient care Maintain and update hospital digital systems Comply with the requirements of the Caldicott Report, Data Protection Act, Access to Health Records Act and subsequent legislation issued in relation to computer retained data, preserving the confidentiality of patient identifiable data at all times Assist with maintaining health and safety at work Maintain and update procurement database system Organise the ward administration efficiently in a complex, changing environment Manage multiple tasks ensuring deadlines are met Communicate appropriately with a range of people at different levels of the organisation Be flexible, self-motivated and work with minimum supervision Work to objectives as discussed at personal appraisal Person Specification Application Essential 5 GCSE's or equivalent including English at grade C or above Knowledge of a range of IT software programmes Evidence of continuing development Desirable Experience with NHS computer systems
