Job summary Nursing Assistant - Band 2 - Medical & Surgical Wards - flexible working, full training provided.
Upon successful completion of Care Certificate/Ward based competencies, your banding will be upgraded to Band 3.

Interview details: This will be a group interview at: Location:West Suffolk Hospital Date: 9th January 2025 Main duties of the job As a nursing assistant you will provide invaluable support to ward teams and help with direct patient care, which might include: Measuring and observing the physical characteristics/condition of patients, including temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, peak flows and weightAssisting patients with the maintenance of their personal and oral hygiene, including washing/bathing, mouth and dental care, hair-washing, nail care, shaving and dressing/undressingAssisting patients to eat and drink as per their care plan, identifying, recording and reporting abnormal dietary and fluid intakeAssisting patients with mobility, using safe manual handling techniquesAssisting patients to use toilet facilities.
If you are successful in your application, you will be required to take part in an induction programme in order to achieve the required competencies for the Care Certificate which is a nationally recognised qualification
You will be assigned to a ward/department area and the aim is that you will achieve the Care Certificate within the first six weeks of your employment with the Trust.

Care CertificateIf you are successful in your application, you will be required to take part in an induction programme in order to achieve the required competencies for the Care Certificate which is a nationally recognised qualificationYou will be booked onto Healthcare Support Worker induction program.
This is in-house training running for 2 weeks.
As part of the induction program, you will be booked for 2 shadow shifts and will be assigned to the ward/department to complete your Care Certificate.The aim is that you will achieve the Care Certificate within the first six weeks of your employment with the Trust.Further information on the Care Certificate will be provided to shortlisted candidates as part of a group interview process where you can find out more about the role.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Care Certificate or commitment to undertaking and achieving the Care Certificate within initial twelve weeks Desirable Vocational qualification at Level 2 in Health, Health and Social Care or sector related subject area Level 1 qualification or equivalent in both Maths and English Experience Essential Experience of working / communicating with the general public Working in an effective team.
Able to understand the importance of how to apply Person Centred Values in the care environment: privacy, dignity, respect, active participation, equality, diversity, confidentiality.
Demonstrates an awareness of the importance of keeping the clinical environment safe and clean Desirable Experience of working in a healthcare team environment.
Understanding of risk management and health and safety issues, including safe manual handling.

Communication with a range of different people including service users, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team.
