Role Summary We are seeking an enthusiastic doctor who has completed their F2 competencies and wants to continue to specialise in Medicine but who also has an interest in education.
We are offering a unique, dynamic and exciting role that includes both a clinical and educational aspect to the post.
In addition to the 4 clinical days per week you'll be expected to work in line with the educational strategy for the unit.
The base ward will be within General Medicine (to be finalised post interview) The educational strategy sets out the development for the entire work force.
The successful candidate will be expected to support the existing curriculum for all Specialist areas on the unit.
This will take the form of Simulation Based Education, One to One and group sessions.
Also the successful candidate will be expected to support individuals who are struggling Appointees will be given a named supervisor from within their clinical directorate for pastoral and educational support, a named mentor within their area of special interest, and a voluntary lightweight portfolio to make revalidation easy.
The posts will attract the same study and annual leave arrangements as our deanery Core Trainees.
We follow a quality improvement ethos and would support you in undertaking a project which covers your area of interest.
There will also be opportunities within your role to become involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
In addition, engaging in research is encouraged and opportunities will be provided for the selected motivated candidate to undertake research leading to presentations locally and in national / international meetings and/or publications in peer-reviewed journals.

More detail about the role The post will be nominally split between providing high quality care to medical patients in a busy environment and to deliver simulation/education each week.
The Medicine shifts will be within our Medicine directive.
It is anticipated that the role will be 4 days clinical and 1 day teaching.
The post holder will work with the nurse Clinical Educator to deliver simulation and other training opportunities for a range of clinical staff (not just medical) to support identified training needs.
The post holder will be expected to attend the Train the Trainer course for Simulation if required.
