Job description Job responsibilities MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSTWork under indirect supervision in accordance with defined practice protocols Provide a phlebotomy service to patients registered at the practice Be competent in the assessment of patients both physically and emotionally, to ensure safety prior to blood samples being taken Be competent in the selection of the appropriate sample bottle or all common laboratory investigations Be competent in the use of computer software packages associated with ordering blood samples from different sources Ensure samples are correctly labelled for transportation to the laboratory Carry out routine and specific procedures required for the day-to-day running of the practice Wound care to include recognising wound infection and escalating to appropriate clinician as required.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Qualified in Phlebotomy.
Experience working as a Health Care Assistant.
Desirable Experience of working in Primary Care or GP Practice.
Experience taking ECGs.
Basic wound care training.
Experience of EMIS clinical system.
