Job summary Nottinghamshire Healthcare are delighted to offer an opportunity to join our Specialist Palliative Care Services.We are advertising a fixed term or secondment opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our established team working in the South of Nottinghamshire.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist role provides expert symptom management and psychological support to patients and those important to them.
Based within local health centre, and joining the wider specialist palliative care services from John Eastwood Hospice and Hayward House you will provide expert clinical support and advice to patients in their own home.
The location of the role is subject to successful appointment but is likely to be in the Rushcliffe area of South Nottinghamshire.
You will join a team of 6 nurse specialists working under the clinical leadership of Consultants in Palliative Medicine.
Main duties of the job As a specialist in palliative care you will provide expert clinical support to patients and those important to them, predominantly in the community setting.
This will include management of pain and symptom control as well as psychological support and care in the last days of life.As an expert in your field you will also support the delivery of a portfolio of training and education to staff in all settings.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential First level General Nurse Registration Post-basic qualification in palliative care Teaching qualification Non-Medical prescribing - or willingness to undertake Desirable Degree module in palliative care Degree in health related subject Advanced communications skills training Psychology level 2 training Experience Essential Substantial proven palliative care experience Desirable Experience in a specialist nurse role Community experience / insight into community issues Specialist palliative care experience Knowledge and Skills Essential Knowledge of symptom management at a depth expected for band 7.
Sound knowledge of palliative care philosophy.
Knowledge of Clinical Governance including audit and research.
Well developed inter-personal and communication skills.
Ability to manage own case load, time etc.
Ability to manage stress and distress in self and others.
Ability to work unsupervised and use initiative as required.
Sound clinical assessment skills.
