Job summary This Maintenance Operative role at Avonmere Care Home in Bristol involves ensuring the building and grounds are well maintained, undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services, and applying basic fixes to equipment and systems to keep the facilities fully functional.
Main duties of the job As a Maintenance Operative, your focus will be on maintaining the building and grounds, carrying out general maintenance tasks and basic repairs including electrical, plumbing, joinery, and building work both inside and outside the care home.
You will also support new residents to arrange their rooms, ensure routine re-decoration is undertaken, advise on supply and quality of maintenance items, and provide out-of-hours emergency cover.

If this sounds like the place for you, wed love to hear from youABOUT THE ROLEYour focus as a Maintenance Operativewillbetoensurethe building and grounds are wellmaintained, undertaking a variety of routine maintenance tasks, checks to services applying basic fixes to equipment and systemswhilstensuringfacilities are fully functional.Other responsibilitieswillinclude: Carryingout all general maintenance tasks and basic repairs includingall electrical, plumbing joinery and building tasks both inside and outside the Home.
Supporting new residents to arrange their room as they wish.
Ensuringroutine re-decoration is undertaken asrequiredtomaintainthe standards in thehome.
Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods.
Providingout of hours emergency service,participatingin the on-call rota.ABOUT YOUTo be successful in your application, you will live our values of caring, supportive, honest, respectful, and accountable in all that you do.Our ideal candidatemust: Have a minimum of one years experience in a general maintenance or handy person role and/or hold a professional qualification in a trade.
Hold a full driving licence.
Have knowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments.
