Job summary This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Adult Psychotherapist tojoin the Complex Psychological Interventions Service.
The service works closely with the community based-teams providing treatment, consultations, supervision, case-based discussions and case management.
The ideal candidate will be expected to have extensive experience, and relevant training, in brief and long-term relational psychotherapy, experience of working in the NHS and within mental health services and experience of offering clinical supervision.
The successful candidate will work within the Complex Psychological Interventions (CPI) service, a friendly and supportive team, highly valued within local services.
The team are comprised of multidisciplinary professions, including Clinical Psychologists, Counselling Psychologists, Art Psychotherapists, Psychotherapists, and Specialist Psychological Therapists.
You will receive excellent support and supervision from more senior CPI members who work within a range of therapeutic specialisms.
There are also opportunities to link with psychological therapist colleagues and participate in regular case presentations and peer learning and development through the CPI.
The CPI have links to local training institutions and Universities, bringing opportunities for teaching, mentoring, researchand development of staff through ongoing professional training, both internally and externally.
Main duties of the job 1.
The post holder will provide assessment and treatment of adults of working age and older adults based on relational psychotherapeutic principles and techniques.2.
The post holder will be expected to provide psychotherapeutic input into the multidisciplinary South Recovery and Assessment team and to offer consultation, supervision and teaching to professional colleagues to the applicant's level of experience.3.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to the broad range of clinical work undertaken by the team.
In addition they will have the opportunity and encouragement to develop specialist skills in a particular area, in line with priorities agreed with the team.
The post holder would be expected to have an interest in brief psychotherapeutic interventions as well as longer term work.
This work may take place across a variety of settings.4.
The post holder will be expected to offer clinical supervision (individual and group) to other professionals ( Recovery team staff) and if required, depending on need, to other staff too ( psychotherapists, CPI staff and resident psychiatrists).

Job description Job responsibilities Clinical and Professional1.
To offer highly specialist assessments and consultations to patients with complex mental health difficulties.2.
To provide relational psychotherapy to individual patients and groups (if the post holder has relevant training in group psychotherapy).3.
To provide a detailed formulation of the service users difficulties following each assessment / consultation and a written summary of the assessment with suggested recommendations.4.
To liaise with Recovery teams, provide consultancy and identify appropriate care pathways for patients with complex needs within secondary services.5.
To work jointly with multidisciplinary colleagues within secondary services offering consultations, case management and case-based discussion and providing expert advice.6.
To implement effective two-way communications to ensure that the Service areas are responsive to the needs of patients/service users and external pressures.7.
To participate in joint assessments with Recovery staff to support staff in planning care pathways for individuals and to support skill development.8.
To participate in the locality CPI referral meetings.9.
To participate in clinical supervision and caseload supervision arrangements provided by the CPI service.10.
If required, to provide clinical supervision and contribute in that way to the mandatory training of resident psychiatrists in the Severn Postgraduate Medical Education footprint, therapists working under clinical license, CPI staff and staff working in the Recovery team.People leadership1.

To work collaboratively with the consultant Medical psychotherapist of the team in managing service demands and capacity.3.
Actively seek opportunities for improvement for the services, which you and your team provide by identifying research evidence and best practice elsewhere, interpreting/translating and facilitating adaptation for AWP.4.
Support the use of quality improvement (QI) techniques in service improvement, by negotiating shared solutions, facilitating the resolution of complex or contentious issues and managing any conflict into constructive outcomes.5.
Ensure effective risk identification, analysis, mitigation and management within your services.Governance and policy1.

Person Specification PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Degree and Masters level qualification in a relevant area Qualification as an Adult Psychotherapist at Masters Level or equivalent Professional registration as an adult psychotherapist with UKCP, BPC or other relevant body Significant experience of offering brief and long term relational psychotherapy Experience of working in the NHS and within mental health services Experience of offering clinical supervision Working with a wide range of individuals with complex problems/presentations and with individuals presenting a risk to themselves and others Formulating and understanding complex presentations and identifying appropriate care/treatment pathways Experience of delivering training in different settings Experience of working in a team Good communication skills within multiagency working Desirable Postgraduate level qualification in supervision Significant experience of working in the NHS and within various mental health services Experience of contributing to service developments Experience of research and audit
