Working as part of the Airfield & Civils Construction Programme Delivery Team you will lead on the development and design delivery of complex projects ranging in value from £3m to £50m and play a vital role in the growth and functionality of Gatwick.

This is an opportunity to make a significant impact, with ambitious projects on the horizon, as a Senior Project Engineer, you'll be at the heart of these transformative efforts.

Your keen attention to detail and ability to maintain a strategic perspective will be essential as you navigate a live operational environment, balancing adherence to established processes with the ability to challenge the status quo where needed.

The role Reporting to the Programme Design Manager, you will play a key role in leading the design and management of critical Civil & Infrastructure projects within an operational airfield environment.
You will manage Design Consultants ensuring designs align with project requirements, whilst delivering value for money and adhering to both schedule and budget.

Other duties include:
Developing the design brief for external design consultants, ensuring that the design contract is implemented and effectively managed through the design process, and that design outputs are reviewed, co-ordinated and meet quality requirements.
Ensuring safe and cost effective design solutions to meet project requirements Overseeing and providing technical input to any design changes throughout the construction and handover stages.
Facilitating ongoing enhancements to project delivery and design management processes, implementing improvements as they are developed.
Assisting Project Managers with stakeholder management to enhance the delivery of projects, considering both operational disruption and project cost.
Alongside the Construction team, taking responsibility for safety and quality on site, ensuring all design and testing meets the requirements.
Supervising and mentoring Project Engineers within the wider programme team when required.
Discharge Gatwick Airport Limited's statutory duty as Principal Designer under CDM 2015 Regulations (where applicable).
What are we looking for?
The live environment at Gatwick requires all our teams to have a flexible and adaptable approach, with exceptional problem solving skills and an ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

As well as an in-depth knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental regulations within the Construction industry, this role requires:
A degree or equivalent in Civil / Construction Engineering or Construction Management.
Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the technical and regulatory requirements related to civil engineering and infrastructure.
Experience in engineering design or design management on large infrastructure projects or multi year programmes of work with a value typically in excess of £15m.
Clear understanding and knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations.
Working knowledge of NEC suite of contracts.
CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
Whilst previous civil engineering experience within an Airfield environment is desirable, we welcome any applications with broader civils infrastructure experience and would encourage you to apply.
