Your Role Reporting directly to the Head of Rail Operations and Safety, you will be an essential player in delivering top-tier rail operations and standards for Kuehne+Nagel Government and Defence Rail Operations.
Your key responsibilities will include: Document Management: Review and update crucial rail safety documents, ensuring they govern how our rail activities are conducted.
Rail Safety System Management: Ensure the Rail Safety System is fit for purpose, and maintain key documents such as the General Railway Rule Book, Local Railway Working Instructions, and Joint Method of Working.
Training Excellence: Leverage your exceptional skills to deliver comprehensive rail-related training to all KNGD rail staff and update rail training policies to ensure they are current, valid, and appropriate for our operations.
Expert Guidance: Provide practical support, advice, and guidance on safety issues to the Head of Rail Operations and Safety.

Your Responsibilities Deliver training to all rail staff upon joining the team or when required to ensure that they are competent to undertake their duties.
Undertake competency assessments for individuals which are mandated every 2 years.
Maintain the training matrix for all rail staff covering mandatory and functional training.
Manage and review the Rail Safety Management System; General Railway Rule Book and Local Railway Working Instructions, making updates once approved by the Head of Rail Operations and Safety.
Undertake a bi-annual inspection and compliance audit programme for all depots, producing a report upon completion, reporting observations and an action plan for their resolution within agreed timescales.
Carry out accident/incident investigations determining the causes and implementation of necessary remedial action to prevent a reoccurrence.
Report all risks or rail related concerns to the Head of Rail Operations and Safety which could affect rail staff, equipment, method of operating or infrastructure including mitigating action Your Skills and Experiences Excellent understanding of Railway Operating Standards and procedures.
In depth understanding of LRWI's, MoW's and the MOD GRRB.
Ideally you will hold at least 5 years' experience of Managing Operating Standards.
Competent to Train and Assess Driving and Shunting Staff Working knowledge of Health and Safety, Quality and Safety Management systems and Legal compliance requirements Qualified Driver and Shunter or prepared to be trained to undertake the necessary training Please be aware that by applying for this role, you are agreeing to participate in the employment screening process.
