Job summary The successful candidate will join the professional team, atthe busy Woodside Medical Practice.
We are looking for a dynamic, motivated andproactive individual to join our friendly, busy practice.
Main duties of the job To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service as well as other GP practice clerical duties for the practice manager and clinical team.To liaise with external agency's eg hospitals, community services, coroners ensuring that all referrals are processed efficiently.
About us Woodside Medical Practice is based in the heart of Woodside,Telford and provides healthcare services to a patient list of approximate 6,400patients.
You will be joining a supportive team of 2 GP Partners, 3 SalariedGPs, 1 Nurse and a support team consisting of medical administrators andreception staff.
Job description Job responsibilities To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and wordprocessing service for GPs and Health Professionals as required.
This includesthe typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, minutes, memorandums, etc.in an accurate, timely and quality manner.Ensure that all referrals are recorded accurately on thepatients medical recordEnsure that all referral templates are up to date on theclinical system.To establish and maintain filing and administrativesystems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secureTo retrieve medical records and assist the completion ofmedical/insurance reportsRetrieve and re-file patient records/documents asrequired.To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone callsto facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, takingmessages and dealing with appropriate queries.Support reception staff, providing cover during staff absence/sickness.To assist the practice manager, clinical & team leaders with all clerical and administrative duties.To apply a high degree of confidentiality to all of theirwork.The above list is not exhaustive, and the successful candidate may be asked to undertake other tasks as appropriate.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Maths Desirable Appropriate NVQ III Certificate ( Business Administration, Secretarial Support etc) or equivalent level qualifications / relevant experience Audio typing skills Experience in using Emis Web/Docman/ERS/Gateway Experience Essential Excellent Audio Typing Skills Good knowledge of medical terminology Ability to deal with enquiries in a professional manner Understanding the need for confidentiality in the workplace Ability to work as part of a team Ability to prioritise own workload and work with minimum supervision Excellent IT, Word Processing and clerical skills A willingness to learn and work in a flexible manner Ability to work in a busy General Practice and cope with a variety of demands from patients and clinical staff.
Desirable Previous secretarial experience in a GP setting desirable
