Job summary Bolton NHS Foundation Trust are delivering a digital strategy and require an experienced Technical Architect who will lead at the highest level in the delivery of the technical elements of the strategy.
The Technical Architect will establish a series of principles, guidelines and rules used by the Trust to direct the process of acquiring, building, modifying and interfacing IT resources throughout the enterprise.Act as a Technical Lead in one of the following areas and deputise for other Technical Architects: EUC services (includes all end user computer systems and platforms, such as desktop, laptop, print and mobile devices as well as VDI technologies as required), Infrastructure & Cyber security services (all server Hardware, Storage Technologies, Hyper-visor infrastructure, security vulnerability assessment & patching).As the Technical Architect, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful scoping and delivery of IT project work, providing direction, guidance and governance when needed to the technical delivery teams, it is essential to understand all aspects of each system, from both a business and technical point of view.
This means having a full working knowledge of the products on the knowledge and skills framework and an in depth understanding of Enterprise IT Systems and Hardware as well as the systems used within the NHS and healthcare.
Main duties of the job As the Technical Services Team Lead, you'll be responsible for defining the overall structure of IT system and hardware.
You'll act as project manager, overseeing IT assignments that are aimed at improving the business, and ensuring all parts of the project run smoothly and with technical merit.
Excellent communication to senior and junior staff will be given at all times to ensure knowledge is transferred and in line with trust objectives.
Working from start to finish on each project, it's essential to understand all aspects of each system, from both a business and technical point of view.
This means having a full working knowledge of the products on the knowledge and skills framework and an in depth understanding of Enterprise IT Systems and Hardware as wells the systems used within the NHS and healthcare.
As Technical Services Team Lead you will be responsible for the design process, create the high-level architecture.
This involves creating designs from conceptual, logical, and physical plans, including a high degree of information modelling.
Defining and enforcing IT security standards to be applied across the IT Services infrastructure across all digital post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all cyber security processes are documented, and they are managed in order to effectively deliver the required performance required within an IT security setting.

Person Specification Education/Qualification Essential MCSE / Degree Level / Equivalent Demonstrate commitment to ongoing personal development Desirable CCA, CCP, CCE, MCSA, CCNA, VCP ITIL Experience Essential Experience in delivering complex technical IT facilities Demonstrate a proven track record as a technical lead on the development of business critical applications to defined timescales.
Staff appraisal, interviewing and management experience Good knowledge of quality standards, legislation and best practice Up to date knowledge of technical applications Ability to think ahead and anticipate problems, issues and solutions Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong Programming / VBS / Powershell Experience providing IT focused Enterprise Architecture and strategy.
Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp Experience Supplier management experience Large scale LAN knowledge Active Directory and Azure Infrastructure Management Exchange OnPrem and O365 Firewall technologies knowledge Anti-Virus domain infrastructure SAN Technologies VMware & Hyper-V knowledge Disaster recovery and Business Continuity knowledge Problem management within an IT environment Change management experience Risk management experience Knowledge of Windows server environments, voice and data networking and end device computing Experience of developing operational policy and procedures Experience in senetration and security compliance testing Good understanding of industry security standards eg ISO 27001 Staff appraisal, interviewing and management experience Knowledge to be a lead specialist in at least 4 technical disciplines as defined by the Knowledge Skills Framework Document.
Desirable Experience of supporting a Virtual Environment.
Line / people management experience is desirable Skills Essential Ability to organise self and others and to work on own initiative.
Good negotiation skills Strong people management skills.
