Job Title: Power Systems Design Lead Salary: up to £65,000 per annum dependent upon experience + 10% bonus Location: Chelmsford or Cowes (Isle of Wight) We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world's leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Power Systems Design Lead.
The role can be based in either Chelmsford or Cowes (Isle of Wight) and offers the opportunity for hybrid working (2- 3 days per week on site) and flexible working hours.

You will be joining the Radar Development team who are embarking on new and cutting edge technology developments for the future generation of Radar and Sensor Systems.
This role has the potential to span across teams delivering to customers in both the UK and Export market, from early stage technology development through to supporting a fleet of in-service systems.
Main Responsibilities: We can accommodate varying levels of experience and the role holder will undertake some or all of the following tasks :- Design of AC & DC power generation and distribution systems including sizing, protection, control, and the specification of power supplies and converters.
This covers design and/or specification of an electrical supply system from 440V AC to circuit board voltage rails Motor drives, control, and positioning systems EMC management and verification Specification of bespoke procured hardware and management of associated sub-contractor development programmes Design verification using a combination of simulation, analysis, and test techniques including support to EMC test houses and customer installations Generate design documentation and technical reports Interfacing with related disciplines Adherence to Engineering Lifecycle and contributing to progress, peer, and design reviews Provide Electrical Engineering expertise to the project team Benefits: Enhanced Pension scheme- up to 14% combined Relocation package available Flexible working pattern including working from home/ flexible start and finish times 25 holiday days plus bank holidays- 26 days after 5 years' service/ 27 days after 10 years' service Shared Incentive Plan Employee Assistance Programme Cycle to Work Scheme Life Assurance (you and your spouse/ partner)- 6 x salary Ill Health Income Protection/ Private Medical Insurance- 50% of salary About You: The role holder will have a degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or strongly related subject, and have experience in one or more of the following areas :- Specification or design of electrical power systems including AC to DC conversion, distribution, regulation and conditioning including linear and switch-mode supplies Previous experience of operating in a defence or high safety integrity environment Familiarity with Electrical Safety Standards, and ideally EMC qualification to DEF STAN 59-411 Design proving, integration, and defect resolution Familiarity with relevant modelling tools such as Matlab/Simulink would be beneficial as would some awareness of SysML Gathering of evidence to support acceptance, fitness for purpose, legislative requirements, and safety A rigorous approach to the safety aspects associated with high power/high voltage equipment You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years About Aeropeople: Whether you're looking for your next job or searching out the next superstar to join your team… Aeropeople's expertise and experience is entrenched in the aerospace, aviation, engineering, motorsport, automotive, and defence industries.
