Job summary This is an exciting development opportunity for a Band 5 to work as part of a supportive team working with Older Adults .
Within this role, the clinical lead and senior OT staff will support your learning journey enabling opportunities to develop and learn.This job will give you the opportunity to screen patients for groups, prepare and lead a number of groups including Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, work closely with Multi-Disciplinary Team, attending meetings whilst also gaining experience working with patients in the community in their home environment.You will be responsible for providing high standard of assessment, advice, treatment and evaluation of patients referred to the service.
You will have regular supervision and supported with your developmental pathway.
Main duties of the job Use appropriate assessment techniques to assess individual's abilities and difficulties in relation to their desired goals in everyday activities.
Plan to lead groups sessions Screen patients for groups Complex cases in the community with support from senior members of staff.
Apply knowledge of bio-psychosocial science, pathology and occupation in its widest sense - in order to make basic decisions on the level of treatment intervention required.
To undertake treatment planning, communicating and negotiating treatment plans and clinical reasoning for intervention with clients and their carers.
To communicate agreed treatment/care plans to multi-disciplinary team colleagues and partnership agencies and liaise with them at formal and informal meetings.
To apply a basic range of treatment modalities to meet the needs of clients in individual and group format, utilising clinical reasoning processes to determine the most appropriate setting for intervention.
To regularly review client's progress in order to evaluate and interpret effectiveness of treatment plans, and amend treatment accordingly.
To keep up to date clinical records in line with professional standards and local record keeping policies To provide written and verbal reports as required at any stage in the treatment process.

To apply a basic range of treatment modalities to meet the needs of clients in individual and group format, utilising clinical reasoning processes to determine the most appropriate setting for intervention.
8.
To make clinically informed decisions in order to delegate aspects of client care to Assistants, supported by Advanced/Senior Occupational Therapist.
9.
To regularly review clients progress in order to evaluate and interpret effectiveness of treatment plans, and amend treatment accordingly, supported by Advanced/Senior Occupational Therapist.
10.
To ensure treatment offered is based on the best available evidence for effectiveness in the specialist area where it is applied.
11.
To keep up to date clinical records in line with professional standards and local record keeping policies.
12.
To provide written and verbal reports as required at any stage in the treatment process in line with Occupational Therapy clinical governance standards.
13.
To establish positive and mutually supportive relationships with unqualified Occupational Therapy staff.
Indirect Clinical Duties: 1.
To attend clinical case discussions at meetings or ward rounds.
2.
To utilise evidence based practice.
3.
To undertake day to day clinical prioritisation and work planning, supported and supervised by Advanced/Senior Occupational Therapist.
4.
To promote the roles and skills of Occupational Therapy to other professionals.
5.
To contribute constructively to multi-disciplinary team working.
6.
To complete necessary statistical records and documentation as required.
Profession Specific Duties: 1.
To attend professional Occupational Therapy meetings as required.
2.
To attend appropriate training events as appropriate to support continuing professional development.
3.
To complete Preceptorship programme in the first year and probation for first 6 months.
4.
To maintain a continuing professional development portfolio identifying learning objectives for each rotation.
5.
To undertake annual appraisal.
6.
To contribute constructively to the weekly supervision process.
7.
To comply with agreed policies for annual leave, sickness and time owing in each rotation.
8.
To attend the Band 5 Support Group.
9.
To promote and maintain high standards and professional behaviour in Occupational Therapy as stated in the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct for Occupational Therapists.
