Job summary Weare looking for a Band B confident and experienced dentist to work as part ofour special care dental team focusing on providing comprehensive and continuingpreventative dental care for adults and children whose dental needs cannot befulfilled in General Dental Practice.
This will include a full range of dental careunder conscious sedation and child extractions under general anaesthesia.The job holderwill also be required to provide urgent care dentistry for unregisteredpatients on an occasional basis.Theservice can offer opportunities for the job holder to develop dental skills enhancingtheir future career.PlymouthCommunity Dental Services Ltd, is part of Livewell Southwest; an award winningprovider of NHS services in Plymouth and the surrounding community in South Hamsand West Devon.

Main duties of the job The post holderwill provide comprehensive treatment for a range of patients including thosewho are unable to access dental care in a high street practice those withspecial needs (including medically compromised).
This may include dental careunder sedation or general anaesthetic where appropriate.They will alsobe required to offer urgent care for those members of the community who havebeen unable to access treatment with an NHS general dental practitioner asrequired by the service.

Job description Job responsibilities The post holder will be expected to:Hold GDC registration and professional indemnity at an appropriate level of cover.Offer a full range of treatment for patients whose special needs have prevented them from accessing dental care through the General Dental Service.Provide treatment under IV and/or RA sedation when appropriate.Undertake Treatment carried out under General Anaesthetic in a hospital setting.To maintain up to date knowledge and skills on clinical techniques and their application to patient dental care.
To provide clinical advice to staff or other health care workers on dental matters as appropriate.Provide professional advice and support to other health care workers.Liaise with other dental care providers including within the GDS and Hospital services.Undertake Administration associated with these duties including completion of appropriate NHS forms and referrals.Be part of PCDS teaching/training programme of Medical and Dental students.Support the services provision of Urgent care Dentistry.Provide services on more than one site as dictated by service requirements.Take part in personal development and appraisal.Undertake appropriate Continuing Professional Development relevant to the requirements of the service.Recognise and assist with management of medical emergencies within the dental surgery.Have a comprehensive knowledge of service emergency drugs protocol and competence for use in medical emergencies.Complete ILS and PILS training This post involves working with children and vulnerable adults and will require a
