Due to our continued growth, we are now recruiting for an EDS Lead Engineer to be based at our clients site in Woking.
Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers.
It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
Role summary: The EDS Lead Engineer for Electrical EDS Systems spearheads technical, project and system engineering as well as EE Integration efforts across various programs.
Taking a proactive approach, they lead from the forefront to ensure seamless progression from concept to series delivery, guaranteeing that all systems and components meet program requirements in terms of performance, attributes, cost, and timing.
Dimension of Function: This role demands strong multitasking abilities, a forward-thinking mindset and the capacity to make swift, evidence-based decisions to maintain project momentum.
Areas of Responsibility: Expertise in the field of Electrical wiring harness design and development, data management, commodity management & coordination in automotive domain.
Ownership of EDS System low voltage wiring harnesses, cabin body harness, facia harness, door & roof harness, engine compartment harnesses, power and ground terminals - drive these commodities from concept design phase to testing to prototypes to production.
Integration of harnesses with the rest of the vehicle and electronic modules, ensuring efficient packaging.
Understand EE Architecture inputs, convert them to useful design inputs for wire harness concept design.
Good experience of circuit schematics and 2D drawings, review the work done by designers before delivering to customer.
Understand key deliverables at each key milestones of vehicle program gateways and make task plan accordingly.
Ensure progression of design maturity from initial concept through to Engineering Sign-Off and design gateways.
Commodity management, interaction with harness supplier for Design for Manufacturing agreements and part delivery scheduling.
Effective representation in customer technical meetings, extract key actions from such meetings and cascade to design team.
Plan and create Harness Change Requests (HCR) as a part of change management with Harness Suppliers.
Lead Failure Mode Avoidance activities including DFMEA, quality history reviews, development tests.
Develop System Design Specifications incorporating engineering standards, test procedures and material specifications.
Develop and maintain the design validation plan (DVP) including both in-house and supplier testing plan and ensure development signoff tests are completed on schedule.
Proof of Concept, harness part ordering for POCs and harness reworks.
Ensure sub-system meets Cost and weight Targets.
Ensure regulatory compliance.
Troubleshoot and resolve all Validation issues.
Lead the resolution of design, attribute or packaging incompatibility through the appropriate cross-functional meetings.
Support OEM Purchasing team in Sourcing and RFQ activities.
Resolve issues arising from validation and tests using 8D problem solving method.
Resolve issues arising from vehicle build related to wiring harness.
Knowledge / Experience: Excellent understanding of EE Architecture, Pre-Vision, Circuit Schematics, CDS & Software Platforms.
Expert level skills with tools such as Catia V5 EHI module, Capital Harness/ Arcadia, Team Center, Enovia.
Extensive experience within the automotive EDS domain.
Experience in Prototype car, VP & PP car build support activities, harness rework and repurposing activities.
Proof of excellence in your past position, while demonstrating profound creativity in resolving design problems.
Experience of Vehicle Build Issue Management methods such as 8D problem solving method.
Experience in full vehicle development life cycle, from concept to prototype to full production.
Excellent verbal & written communication skills, advanced level presentation skills.
