Since 2008 SaferCash is a partnership between the NPCC and the British Security Industry Association to tackle the threats posed by CVIT, ATM and other physical crime targeting the financial industry.
SaferCash serves a vital purpose as a liaison between the Financial Industry and Law Enforcement to facilitate partnership working and intelligence sharing.
Approved by the Home Office, SaferCash, which is a not for profit, seeks to provide the Police with a bespoke intelligence platform, from analysing cross border offending, to linking crimes, assisting in identifying OCG's and well as identifying emerging threats and future hotspot offending locations.
Through membership contributions SaferCash funds 5 Police Staff posts alongside 2 National Industry Liaison Officers who form SaferCash's National Control Centre.
The SaferCash National Analyst will be embedded in the ROCUWM.
They will work in partnership with the NPCC and the British Security Industry Association.
The appointed individual will work with the already established departments within the Regional Organised Crime Units, the Head of SaferCash, and the SaferCash analytical team based across the North West, West Midlands and London regions to deliver effective intelligence research and analytical products in respect of Organised Acquisitive Crime (OAC) targeting CViT, ATM and Financial Institutions.
Responsibilities include the production of tactical and strategic intelligence products to identify emerging trends and OCGs engaged in CVIT and ATM criminality which further informs ROCUs and Force and Regional TTCGs.
The role provides a national overview in these specific areas of business and industry initiatives to law enforcement and trusted partner agencies thus adding value to the prevention and investigations already being undertaken at force, regional and national level.
Given the nature of the role, this position is remote working and the post holder will be supplied with equipment to enable this.
The post holder may be able to take advantage of free desk space at the ROCU offices in central Birmingham should they so desire.
Some travel will be required to deliver briefings and presentations as well as attend face-to-face meetings with colleagues and partners.
Roles and Responsibilities Maintain oversight of physical crime affecting SaferCash partners and serve as a liaison between Law Enforcement and Industry to share intelligence and provide analytical support to aid investigation.
Assist the Regional Analysts in the development of intelligence through the provision of analytical and research support including the production of a National Data Summary for inclusion with the Regional Quarterly Problem Profiles.
Maintain strong working relationships with partners through good communication with industry and law enforcement SPOCs regarding criminality.
Represent the UK within the European Association for Secure Transactions through the production of briefings informing partners on the threat within the UK as well as identifying and sharing best practice.
Identify linked series of offences utilising the National Intelligence Model approved analytical techniques.
Identify those Organised Crime Groups engaged in criminality, through the analysis of police and non-police intelligence.
Drive the business of SaferCash with products that identify crime patterns and trends at a strategic and tactical level, thus providing focus for future work and to enable SaferCash to provide accurate analytical products for stakeholders.
Identify intelligence gaps and make recommendations for intelligence development.
These proposals will recommend activity locally, regionally or nationally, in the form of intelligence development, enforcement and / or prevention by a single agency or multi agency.
Produce intelligence and performance products based upon analysis for dissemination to audiences of policing and industry partners.
Prepare and deliver briefings in a variety of mediums based on products to inform on the risk and threat emanating from Physical ATM and CVIT crime.
It is the responsibility of the post holder to enhance and develop the role.
This is a dynamic post in which the role holder will be required to adapt to changing trends, keeping informed of new techniques used by offenders.
It is vital the role holder continues to raise the profile of SaferCash across the region and nationally.
Essential Skills: • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Good research and analytical skills and techniques including experience or knowledge of working to the National Intelligence Model (NIM), structured analytical techniques (SATs) and other legislation pertinent to Intelligence.
• Knowledge of operational, tactical and strategic analysis.
• Proven ability to effectively problem solve using research and analytical techniques, presenting complex issues in a way which makes them understandable to a range of audiences.
• Experience of working to multiple deadlines and delivering results through effective planning and organising.
Ability to prioritise own time and workload, under pressure and with minimum supervision.
• Excellent computer literacy skills, especially in the application of Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience of building effective working relationships with a range of key stakeholders, including multiple partners.
• Excellent presentation and briefing skills.
Desirable Skills: • Experience as an Intelligence Analyst within a law enforcement agency (LEA); • Intelligence Professionnalisation Programme (IPP) accreditation; • Experience of relevant analytical tools, such as i2 analyst notebook, CHORUS, GIS applications, and other customised databases; • A driving license and ability to travel nationally where required; Other Requirements: • Must be willing to undergo vetting; • The post holder will be expected to undertake training as and when required.
• The post holder will be expected to comply with health and safety requirements.
• Must have capability to travel to different locations and undertake all assignments in a timely manner.

Contract: Contract: 2-year Fixed Term (to end of March 2027) Line Management This post has no line management responsibilities.
They will report to the Head of SaferCash employed by the BSIA.
Location Agile/remote working - hot desking space in some police buildings in central Birmingham available.
Vetting Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Enhanced Security Clearance scrutiny prior to commencing their role, this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
Medical Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks, which may include a drugs test.
