This post will be required to work across the extended opening hours.

Main duties of the jobThe post is amenable to part-time or full-time working. The Podiatry Service offers a comprehensive rotational scheme, for both entry-level and experienced staff. The successful applicants will have the opportunity to gain a wide variety of experience working in an innovative and award-winning service.

You will need strong communication skills and the ability to work well within the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and effective services to patients. The post holder will need to have excellent diagnostic and clinical skills to deliver a range of high-quality Podiatry treatments including complex interventions within your area of clinical expertise across community and acute services.
The post holder will be the main point of contact with other community healthcare workers and provider agencies within a variety of care settings including community clinics, domiciliary work, and care homes and contributes to the development of podiatry. The successful applicant will be responsible for leadership of the Safe at Home Portfolio, maintaining a complex clinical caseload whilst providing clinical leadership to domiciliary-based podiatry services.

You will be required to travel throughout the region on a daily basis, using your clinical skills to undertake comprehensive assessments and provide acute clinical care and interventions to patients. Person SpecificationQualificationsProfessional registration with HCPC as a Podiatrist with a BSc in Podiatric Medicine or equivalent Diploma in Podiatric Medicine and the ability to gain appropriate registered qualification for the supply and administration of prescriptions only medicines (POMS) within an agreed timescale.Postgraduate study to masters level within the specialism or equivalent.Local anaesthetic certificate.Basic Life Support.Non-medical referrer.Postgraduate teaching certificate.MSC in relevant specialist area.Clinical leadership Qualification.Developing Quality Improvement Skills.Independent prescribing.ExperienceDemonstrate a high level of post-graduate specialist knowledge in the following areas for both adults and paediatrics: Musculoskeletal disorders and interventions, Orthotic/appliance intervention, Dermatological, neurological and vascular disorders, tissue viability, and minor surgery.Significant NHS clinical podiatry post-graduate experience or equivalent.Evidence of continued professional development in specialist field and with a multidisciplinary team.Experience of assessing and treating High-risk Patients particularly Diabetics, vascular insufficiency, wound management, terminally ill, mental health problems or learning disabilities.Experience in managing and explaining difficult prognosis.Experience of treating patients in clinics, acute and outreach settings.Experience in manufacture of orthotics and prescription writing.Experience in supervision coaching and delegation.PARIS/Information systems.Welsh Speaker.Experience of producing reports, RCA's and SBAR's.Understanding of service improvement methodologies.Undertaking MECC.SkillsExperience in undertaking advanced lower limb risk classification.Ability to undertake specialist diagnostic assessments including Gait analysis.Good interpersonal skills to work well as part of the team.Ability to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of the general public and health care professionals.Advanced IT skills.Experience of undertaking investigations for concerns and incidents.Special knowledgeUnderstanding of the podiatry profession's clinical processes, procedures, and agenda.Current knowledge of NHS policies and strategies relevant to the post.Understanding of the requirements of Patient safety, quality, and Clinical Governance.Knowledge of Health and safety, COSHH regulations.Up-to-date knowledge of wound healing and dressings relevant to scope of practice.Use of Force plate for gait analysis and pressure point identification and offloading.Use of specialist equipment relevant to this specialism.Specialist knowledge of a range of surgical techniques.Ability to actively encourage and promote defined organisational objectives.Academic theories of communication/health promotion/education.Member of special interest group.Understanding of diversity issues.Personal QualitiesAbility to work flexibly and multi-task.Can work alone or as part of a team.Ability to cope with a large and unpredictable workload.Self-confident.Excellent Organisational skills.Able to make independent reasoned clinical decisions.Enthusiastic and self-motivated.Exploration around personal mastery.Places patient and service needs before own.OtherFit for job role.Mobile/timely access to transport to meet the travel requirements of the role.Problem solving and thinking 'outside the box'.Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
