Practice Nurse

Job summary Due to theretirement of an existing practice nurse who has been a member of our team forin excess of 20 years we are looking to recruit a replacement.Workingunder the supervision of the deputy practice manager and as part of theclinical team you will be required to deliver and maintain a high standard ofnursing care for our patients.
Main duties of the job JOBRESPONSIBILITIES:Respiratorydisease management COPD and AsthmaAssistin chronic disease management clinics (hypertension diabetes CHD CKDAssistin and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by the deputypractice manager and GPs to include:Woundand ulcer care, doppler assessments and compression bandagingRemovalof SuturesECGsVenepunctureTravelHealthAdultand childhood immunisations to include assisting in delivering the seasonal flucampaignContraceptioninjections and routine checksCervicalCytologyChaperoningand assisting patients where appropriate wo are being examined by anotherclinician Requestbasic pathology tests, for example, urine culture, swabsBecompetent in the use of Emis web clinical IT systems and all other IT systemsused as part of the Practice Nurse role.Followingagreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriateMaintaingeneral tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms, includingstocking and rotating items as requiredIdentifythe risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a waythat manages those risksMakingeffective use of training to update knowledge and skillsUsingappropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy andsafe way and free from hazards About us We are a 4 partner GP training practice located 3 miles from Banbury.
We have a branch surgery at Hook Norton.
We dispense for our rural patients at our Bloxham site and pride ourselves with being a traditional, caring practice with a list size of 8,100 patients.
We have a strong work ethic with supporting colleagues as a priority.
We use the Emis Web computer system, as well as Docman, Accurx and Abtrace systems.
We form part of the NORA PCN network group.
Job description Job responsibilities The PracticeNurse will be responsible for people with a range of needs so being highly organised,flexible, and able to prioritise effectively is vital.
They must be observant,able to assess patients and take responsibility for determining the best courseof action.
On a daily basis they willneed to use a broad range of skills, including listening and communication,problem solving, good judgment and offering advice.
A Practice Nurse will need to demonstratecritical thinking, decision making and be able to manage patients.
