GSL is offering an exciting opportunity for an individual with previous SEN experience or Graduate with a keen interest in working with social, emotional mental health needs.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant , you will be working in classes of 3-6 pupils with a staff to student ratio of 1:1.
This role will provide you with valuable hands-on experience if you are pursuing a career in Youth/Criminal Justice.
Responsibilities: Providing assistance and supervision for students before, during, and after lessons Assisting students to understand and participate in set tasks in an appropriate way Assisting with note-taking and supporting literacy and numeracy Working with a class, a small group or individual learners Encouraging the development of appropriate social skills Ensuring accurate individual student records are maintained Building confidence and motivation Participating in team meetings and training programs as an active member of a team Working with managers and employees to support the developing culture of the organization Following regulations pertaining to safeguarding Requirements: An Undergraduate Degree (preferable) and/or previous SEN experience, ideal for Criminology and Psychology Graduates Good general education levels in English and Maths, 5 grade and above Is desired A focus on outside interests that diversify away from the core subjects, building key and personal skills – Sport, Cooking, Coding, Dance, Hair Dressing Knowledge, keen interest, or understanding of the range of different types of learning and behavioural needs (SEMH, PRU) Ability to adapt to various working environments and students with differing abilities and unpredictable behaviour A cooperative working styles Good interpersonal and communication skills A caring attitude and a good listener Flexibility in terms of working patterns Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
