Job summary This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to people living with dementia in Leeds.
The post is a development post and post holder will be supported to develop to an 8a including access to training in supervision skills, within two years.
There is ample opportunity to develop clinical leadership skills and to be involved in ongoing development projects.
There has been psychological provision to the two dementia wards in Leeds for many years and this is a recent increase in funding reflecting the value placed on the contribution from psychological professionals.
The wards work to a model of delivering person centred care.
The frameworks used include both CLEAR and the Newcastle formulation model.
The ward teams are made up of different disciplines and work closely together around a shared care plan.
The psychologist on the ward contributes to making sense of peoples behaviours, and uses the formulation process to identify needs in order that least restrictive practice is required and that service users are discharged back home or to a suitable place of care.
They offer one to one interventions, risk assessments, liaise with family members to gather more history and are available for time limited support to family if required.
There are two wards, one female and one male and time will be divided between them.
The post holder will work regular working hours between Monday and Friday.
Main duties of the job To deliver a high quality psychological service to the inpatient wards for people with dementia at the Mount.
To assess, observe and gather relevant history of service users.
To facilitate formulations and contribute to and direct the care and treatment plan To engage with service uses, offering psychological interventions as required and supporting staff to attend to the psychological needs of the people admitted to the ward and address he needs of those with behaviours that challenge.
To deliver training as required to other professionals on the ward To attend MDTs and work closely with professional colleagues to enhance the care plans and deliver high quality care To develop skills in supervision in order to support trainees and other staff .
To contribute to service development, including the model of clinical care, keeping abreast of the national direction through FPOP workstreams.
To take part in and lead on audits as required To demonstrate compassion for colleagues and service users To support family members to adjust to the needs of the person with dementia About us The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds.
We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country.

The post holder will be delivering person centered dementia care and support staff to delver high quality interventions.

The post involves working with families who need support in context of the challenges and changes and loss they are facing.
Post holder is not required to drive.
The post is 30 hours per week.
