Charterhouse, one of the UK's top independent boarding schools, is seeking to appoint a versatile Artist-in-Residence for the period between January and December 2025 to help broaden our students' artistic and cultural horizons.
We are looking for an inspiring practising artist in any creative discipline with a passion for developing creativity and inquiry among young people as well as pursuing their own practice.
The post would be ideal for a postgraduate or practising artist with a range of creative skills, who has studied a degree within a relevant field, and who has an interest in teaching.
Art at Charterhouse is taught by staff who are practising artists and believe it is important to make time to continue their practice.
This and their constant cultural enrichment by keeping abreast of the latest exhibitions and trends are fundamental to the quality of their teaching.
The department is led by the Head of Department, two full-time art teachers, one 0.7 textiles teacher and three part-time technicians.
The subject areas covered are drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, computer generated digital imagery, photography and film.
