Hours of Work: 4.5 day week Staff Benefits: Life Insurance, Medicash scheme, Free car parking on site, Canteen, Career progression, Flexitime #wbstaff Job Title: Commodity Manager Department: Materials Reports To: Supply Chain Manager/Purchasing Manager Purpose of Post To be responsible for the sourcing, purchasing, and scheduling of all materials within your allocated commodity.
Managing a small team, you will be responsible for the whole supply chain from choosing appropriate suppliers through to delivery to support production demands, ensuring an uninterrupted supply at lowest cost and agreed quality.
Key Tasks Sourcing Source new suppliers for materials required, taking into consideration quality, cost and delivery factors.
Ensure Best Cost Country Sources are utilized where appropriate.
Responsible to pre-qualify any new sources by various means, including on-site visits.
Always ensure suppliers are approved internally in line with ISO procedures.
Maintain the ERP systems with the price, lead-time and supplier details as necessary to enable purchase orders to be raised.
Issuing requests for quotations to approved suppliers for any new parts added to the Bill of Materials are issued in good time.
Scheduling Responsible for a small team who will purchase elements within your commodity group.
Responsible for calculating/anticipating demand and placing orders as required to maintain a constant flow of materials to support the production build plan.
Responsible for expediting orders to ensure production has no stock-outs.
Report Daily on constraints likely to affect production - attend production meetings and give on-the-ground feedback directly to production teams.
Resolving any delivery or invoice queries in a timely manner Costing Responsible for maintaining the material cost on the Bill of Materials for all products within the sub-con commodity.
Provide costings and logical arguments to help with make or buy decisions.
Compare drawings of new parts with existing parts to ensure cost increases or decreases are justified.
Monitor commodity price movements and take appropriate steps to secure lowest cost for the company.
Supplier Management Issue suppliers with monthly/quarterly forecasts in order improve supply chain performance.
Ensure sub-con capacity is in line with Wrightbus needs and appropriate strategies created to ensure same.
Actively pursue cost reduction initiatives within the sub-con commodity.
I.e., Cost reduction programs with current suppliers and alternative supplier options.
Conduct supplier reviews in order to optimize the relationship.
I.e., Cost, delivery performance, quality performance, payment terms, warranty terms.
Management of supplier contracts.
Other Actively contribute to achieving departmental goals and objectives.
Liaise with Planning Department on timing issues related to Bill of Material release.
Monitor stock levels and minimize overstocking - reduce obsolescence General Undertake all duties in line with General Data Protection and maintain utmost level of confidentiality.
Ensure work is completed to meet the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard.
Ensure that you treat those with whom they come into contact in a courteous and respectful manner in accordance with the Dignity at Work Procedure.
