Job description: We are looking for a People Manager with a technical background in the automatic door industry to join our team as our Field Engineering Manager ( Technician Manager - Projects) , looking after our team of experienced installation technicians, who are working on blue chip projects throughout the UK.
A JOB THAT MATTERS: YOUR TASKS As the Field Engineering Manager you will take responsibility for a team of installtion engineers who work on a range of high-profile projects in many areas of the UK.
We are looking for someone who can support our staff and enable them to achieve all of their goals through working together and promoting teamwork and excellence in all the projects they work on.
The role will involve working closely with these engineers, understanding what their needs are and ensuring that each installation is carried out on time and to the best of our capabilities.
Most of the projects will either be on new build or refurbishment sites so an understanding of the challenges of working in those sorts of environments would be extremely useful.
Your day-to-day tasks will include all aspects of engineer management, from toolbox talks, health and safety briefings, holiday & sickness cover as well as return to work meetings (relating to Sickness), appraisals and performance reviews, to recruitment, probationary and disciplinary issues.
In this you need to be a confident and proactive leader with the ability to inspire and influence others to get the most out of your team.
The Field Engineering Manager will also have to look after the customers, dealing with escalations, site issues and working with other internal and external stakeholders to find creative solutions to the problems we have on a daily basis.
Lastly, we will need you to report on the performance of your team, to look at figures and metrics taking ownership of the issues and finding creative solutions to improve performance whilst maintaining team morale and continuity.
This is a home based role where travel to a number of locations throughout the UK will be required as part of your normal working week.

EXPERIENCE THAT MATTERS: YOUR SKILLS A technical background within the automatic door, industrial door, access control or similar building service technology industries Previous experience of the supervision and management of a team of field-based team of engineers Proven ability to implement change as required in a positive manner to improve team and individual performance A creative approach to problem solving and the ability to meet compromise when required.
