Job summary We are looking for two Assistant Psychologists ( wte) to join TheNeurodiversity Pathway.Many graduates find that they have no option but to take onunpaid placement experience to gain the experience required for higher-levelqualifications such as the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
Owing to theintersectional nature of disadvantage, these uncertainties and volunteerculture have contributed to disproportionate disadvantage.NHS England therefore has made funds available to improvingaccess for ethnic minority psychology graduates, socio-economicallydisadvantaged graduates, and psychology graduates who have caringresponsibilities.
We would therefore encourage and welcome applications frompeople with these backgrounds and experiences.
Applications are open to all,though specific interview slots will be available for people with some form ofintersectional disadvantage.
These roles represent an exciting opportunity to join ournewly developing Neurodiversity Pathway.
Our pathway is made up of 3 locality-basedpathways; providing specialist assessment and pre and post assessment focusedsupport for children and young people with autism, ADHD where the young personhas co-occurring mental health difficulties and tics and Tourette's Syndrome.
The team is made up of Clinical Psychology, Speech andLanguage Therapy, Occupational Therapy Mental Health Practitioners andPsychiatry.
Main duties of the job You will support the Clinical Psychologists within the teamproviding specialist assessment and also support our service development byplaying a key role in projects such as the creation of specialist resources,and in our audit and evaluation processes.
The post holder will supportChildren and Young People and their families, delivering high servicestandards, sharing best practice, and actively improving the way we work.We are looking for a Psychology Graduate, with previousexperience of working with neurodivergent Children & Young People.
The postholder will require strong communication and organisation skills, and a flexibleapproach which will ensure positive support during the process of assessmentand post/pre-diagnostic support, and the ability to travel across Devon.

Please refer to your suitability to the post in your supportinginformation from the role requirements or person specification.Take part in a range of psychological services to the clients of the Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD), under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist.Contribute to specialist assessments and provide diagnostic support for children and their parents/carers presenting with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties; this will include producing reports, direct and indirect work.Work independently to an appropriate level, under supervision and abiding by the professional guidelines and code of conduct for registered clinical psychologists.Support research activity including audit, service evaluation, literature reviews and research as required and in agreement with the Clinical Psychology Lead and managers of the service.The post-holder is responsible for their own workload, but is expected to engage with regular supervision from a qualified Clinical Psychologist and review through the management process.
Person Specification Experience Essential Experience in working with children, young people and families.
Desirable Experience of working with children and young people with emotional and mental health difficulties, in a clinical or healthcare environment and / or community-based setting Knowledge, skills and abilities Essential Ability to travel and work in a variety of locations, clinic base, schools, home visits.
The post holder must demonstrate a commitment to research and engage in a programme of research activity and audit as required.
Ability to translate basic psychological theory to clinical populations in a clinical setting.
High standard of report writing Qualifications Essential Bachelor Degree at Honours level, giving eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society Desirable Further postgraduate training in relevant area of professional psychology, health and social care practice and/or research design and analysis.
