Job Title: Sales and Business Development Manager Reports to: Managing Director Hours: Full Time – 36.25 hours per week (8:50am to 4:50pm Mon to Fri) with 1 day per week in based within London.
Our client is a highly regarded bespoke joinery and architectural metalwork company based in Birmingham.
They specialise in the production of individually designed installations which combine hardwood joinery, architectural metalwork, and other materials.
Our expertise also extends to the manufacture of bronze or stainless-steel doors and frames to any detail, making them leaders in their field.
The Role: Our client is seeking an experienced Sales & Business Development Manager to join their dynamic team.
The successful candidate MUST have a strong background in joinery and a solid knowledge of sales management, with a proven ability to lead both sales and estimating functions.

As Sales & Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for driving the sales and estimating departments, ensuring that the company meets their sales targets and maintains a full production load.
You will also play a key role in business development, managing tender processes, and overseeing the estimation of projects.

Key Responsibilities: Sales Management: Oversee and manage the sales and advertising function to obtain high-quality enquiries and orders, ensuring the sales pipeline is maintained.
You will be responsible for all sales leads and ensuring that the estimating department is fully loaded with these enquiries.
Estimating Department Management: Supervise the estimating team to ensure tenders are completed accurately and submitted on time.
Review tender pricing to identify competitive advantages and manage subcontract enquiries when required.
Business Development: Contribute to the company's business strategy and identify new business opportunities.
Work closely with the Contracts team to establish the best approach for pricing and client engagement.
Tender Process Management: Oversee the preparation and submission of tenders, ensuring all requirements are met and tender pricing is competitive.
Follow up on submitted tenders and negotiate where necessary.
Staff and Resource Management: Ensure that the estimating department operates efficiently, with appropriate resource allocation and effective management of personnel activities.
Provide training and development to junior estimators and ensure they develop their skills in estimating.
Liaison with Contracts Managers: Work closely with the Contracts team, particularly when enquiries have originated from their contacts, to ensure the best approach is taken for pricing and estimating.
Contract Management: In certain cases, you may be responsible for managing specific contracts in discussion with the Directors.
Ensure all operations run smoothly and that issues are identified and resolved promptly.
Must-Have Skills and Experience: Proven experience in a similar role within joinery or metalwork, ideally with a focus on sales and estimating.
Strong knowledge of joinery and metalwork to manage the sales and estimating functions effectively.
At least 2 years' experience in sales management or a similar relevant role.
Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to oversee staff and provide guidance and training to junior estimators.
Excellent organisational and communication skills , with the ability to liaise with clients and team members at all levels.
