The role is campus based supporting young people from 5-25 years of age.
Students at St Piers have a wide range of abilities and needs such as epilepsy, autism, learning disabilities.Our large site focuses on our school, college and residential provisions, we cater for both day and residential packages of support.
The work is highly rewarding and is offers a range of development opportunities which may include aquatic therapy, rebound therapy, equipment provision and specialist liaison work.
Main duties of the job Day to day, your role will includeProviding assessment and treatment for a varied cohort of students.Training staff to carry out Physiotherapy recommendations.Providing equipment to support and promote physical development.Plan and run individual and group intervention sessions to maintain and develop our young peoples physical skills.Taking a lead and a supportive role with various team development projects.Contributing to professional and family meetings as an advocate for our young peoples physical needs.St.

Job description Job responsibilities Job PurposeTo provide a physiotherapy service for students attending St Piers School and St Piers College, working closely with other physiotherapists and multi-disciplinary colleagues.Key Tasks and ResponsibilitiesTo manage a caseload of students with epilepsy and/or autism together with other complex developmental or acquired needs attending the School and/or College.Caseload will be based on clinical experience and expertise.
To assess students applying for future placements at St Piers and provide an opinion on the suitability of St Piers to meet their needs.
Provide costings for potential equipment needs as highlighted during our screening assessment process.
To provide a baseline assessment of each new students mobility and gross motor skills and meet appropriate interventions to optimise function and independence.
To set individualised objectives and provide direct treatment as indicated by assessment to maximise and promote function and independence, including 1:1, group sessions and aquatic therapy sessions, as required.
To provide detailed recommendations which are suitable for incorporation into the students education and/or care programmes.
To assess, prescribe and arrange provision of specialised equipment including seating, mobility and standing equipment.
Liaise with other professionals including the visiting NHS Orthotist.
To provide clear written guidelines for support staff to follow when working with our students To support and monitor the implementation of recommendations.
To contribute to reports pertaining to students needs as required.
To liaise with parents and other on site staff including therapy colleagues the aims of physiotherapy intervention.
To identify other situations beyond the post holders current clinical competence and refer on/seek advice as needed.
To contribute to research or audit projects, as appropriate.
To maintain all appropriate records and reports to a high level.Team-working: To support St Piers staff in their understanding of the students physical needs as appropriate to their role.
To meet the needs of all students effectively by working in partnership with other disciplines.
To clearly demonstrate awareness of the roles of all other disciplines and utilise that knowledge to effectively work together with other disciplines for the management of students wherever appropriate.
To provide day to day support / line management for technicians/assistants as required.
To direct the work of assistant staff in delivering intervention.
To maintain excellent communication with all departments across the organisation and other external contacts.
To provide support for Physiotherapy students on clinical placement.
To be responsible for defined projects.Staff Support and Training: To teach and advise staff on the implementation of therapy regimes and programmes to ensure their integration into students routines.
To be responsible for the instruction, supervision and support to all staff involved in physiotherapy treatment sessions.
To advise staff on positive positioning and handling of students.
To provide instruction to staff on correct use of physiotherapy equipment.
To provide supervision and / or training of less experienced team members.
To participate in the physiotherapy team supervision and mentoring structure.
To participate in the in-house CPD opportunities to pass on relevant up to date clinical information and ensure best practise is followed.
To ensure professional development using evidenced based practice, self-evaluation and participating in staff review system.General Duties and Responsibilities: To maintain professional registration ensuring adherence to the relevant standards provided by The Health and Care Professions Council.

Person Specification Skills and Knowledge Essential Computer Literate.

Qualifications Essential BSc (Hons) or MSc in Physiotherapy from an HCPC accredited qualifying course or equivalent.
Evidence of relevant continuing professional development.
Registered member of HCPC.
Desirable Postgraduate short courses in relevant areas.
Member of CSP.
Membership of relevant special interest group.
Experience Essential Proven relevant clinical experience in a range of disciplines.
Experience in paediatrics or adult neurology or learning disability.
Evidence of having worked with young people.
Experience of managing own caseload.
Experience of multi-professional team working.
Desirable Experience of having worked in an education and/or residential setting.
Experience of supervising and/or mentoring - team members.
Experience of carrying out aquatic therapy sessions.
Experience of assessing for and providing- appropriate 24 hour postural management inclusive of specialist equipment.
