Job summary An exciting opportunity for a dynamic, resilient, and experienced person to join the National Suicide and Self Harm Prevention team based in the Strategic Programme for Mental Health, in the NHS Wales Executive You will be responsible for overseeing the regional implementation of the strategic objectives of the national suicide and self-harm prevention strategy [draft] for Wales.
You will coordinate and support the North Wales Regional Forum for suicide and self-harm prevention, linking into the multi-agency National Advisory Group, working alongside statutory and third sector agencies, and experts by experience, to ensure that local needs are assessed, communicated and addressed.
You will support the development of national or 'once-for-Wales' workstreams, while facilitating their delivery in your region ensuring resources address the reduction of unwarranted variations and inequalities.
You will be self-motivated and comfortable working remotely, on behalf of a wide range of stakeholders, balancing the needs and interests of individuals and communities across the region.
You will have strong skills in relationship management and facilitating collaboration, while keeping yourself and others to task and to time.
An ability to function at a strategic level, with the skills to deliver a multi-agency, evidence-based programme of work are essential for this role.
Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job Lead on the coordination of the multi-sectoral delivery of the strategic priorities outlined in the National Suicide Prevention Strategy across the region and ensure that national workstreams are developed and delivered collaboratively, and smoothly at a regional level.
Lead and support relevant authorities, organisations, and wider stakeholders in the development, delivery and monitoring of regional suicide prevention strategies and action plans.
Function as a central source of expertise and knowledge for the region in relation to suicide and self-harm management and prevention.
Facilitate the strategic planning, delivery, and reporting processes of the regional suicide prevention forum, working closely with, and advising the Chair of the forum, and Chairs of any groups that form at a sub-regional level.
Represent and advocate for the regions activities and interests at the Public Health Wales National Advisory Group for suicide and self-harm prevention, an advisory body to Welsh Government.
