Job summary A full-time Band 8c Consultant Clinical Psychologist position is available atthe Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH), RAF Digby.

You will work to ensure that systems are in placeand working effectively for the clinical delivery and professionalsupervision and support of all other staff within the service/team forwhich the post holder has designated responsibility.
This will include clearsystems for effective recruitment, professional appraisal, and theidentification of continuing professional development (CPD) needs acrossthe service/sector team.You will act as a highly specialist resource to the wider professionalcommunity and, as a major requirement of the job, to carry out researchactivities, audit, policy and service development.

Job description Job responsibilities The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:Providing highly developed specialist psychological assessments of clientsbased upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration ofcomplex data from a variety of sources including psychological andneuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales direct andindirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews withclients, family members and others involved in the clients care.Formulating and implementing plans for the formal psychologicaltreatment and/or management of a clients mental and/or healthproblems based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of theclients problems, and employing methods based upon evidence ofefficacy, across the full range of care settings.
Such treatment plans willaccommodate the, sometimes conflicting, needs of the client and theirmilitary employer, and must have sufficient flexibility to enhance theclients operational efficacy whilst delivering optimum clinical care.
Ofnecessity, this requires full liaison with other members of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and the military executive/line-managementsystem.Ensuring that all members of the wider clinical team have access to apsychologically based framework for the understanding and care ofclients of the service, through the provision of advice and consultationand the dissemination of psychological knowledge, research and theory.Please refer to the Job Description and Person Specification for furtherdetails.Selection ProcessThe sift will be completed within 5 working days of the vacancy closingdate.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or equivalent as accredited by British Psychological Society (BPS) conferring eligibility for Chartership & full membership of Division of Clinical or Counselling Psychology).
Training must have included models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
Formal training in clinical supervision of trainee clinical psychologists and other staff.
Supervisor training for doctoral programme clinical psychology trainees.

Experience Essential Extensive and demonstrable experience of working as a HCPC regulated practitioner psychologist within adult mental healthcare services (to include specialist psychological assessment, formulation and treatment of complexity in a wide range of patient groups across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient).
Substantial further specialist training and experience commensurate with eligibility for consultant clinical psychologist appointment approval from external BPS assessor.
Experience of providing supervision and support to psychological and non-psychological staff in a specific therapeutic intervention.
Substantial post qualification experience of delivering evidence based psychological therapy training to a range of professional groups.
Specialist knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups relevant to the community pathway, personality disorder, dual diagnosis, people with additional disabilities.
Experience of hosting training placements for doctoral programme clinical psychology trainees.
Knowledge and Skills Essential Specialist skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management of adult mental health.
Higher level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies with at least one to an accredited/accreditable level.
Specialist skills in evidence based psychological interventions and in adapting interventions to individual complex needs and complex systems.
Skills in strategic/organisational work and service development/redesign.
