Who You Are The ideal candidate possesses a qualification to HNC/HND or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a similar discipline, with a strong interest and knowledge in drainage and/or Flood Risk Management.
Experience managing staff, delivering Project Appraisals, Flood Investigations, and using AutoCAD and GIS systems is crucial.
Knowledge in Site/Contract Supervision, Hydraulic Modelling, and Asset & Risk Management is desirable.
You exhibit excellent communication skills, work effectively in partnerships and teams, and have a strong focus on service users.
Holding a valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel independently is required, along with a basic level of Welsh Language skills.
You are proactive in professional development and adept at managing resources and achieving results.
What the Job Involves The role of Senior Engineer involves contributing to the development, implementation, and management of requirements under the Land Drainage Act 1991, Flood Risk Regulations 2009, and Flood and Water Management Act 2010.
You will focus on ordinary watercourse consents, Land Drainage Bylaw Consents, and Sustainable Drainage Systems Approvals.
This involves managing flood risk activities, developing Local Flood Risk Strategies, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Your tasks will range from supervising site investigations and projects, engaging in flood alleviation schemes, managing the Tip inspection programme, to fostering health and safety compliance.
Further, you will respond to complaints and queries, engage in customer service, and uphold standards of professional expertise and development while supporting the Councils efforts in climate change and carbon reduction initiatives.
