Job description Job responsibilities KEY RESPONSIBILITIES To be able to assist with the maintenance of patients hygiene needs ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.
To report any changes in patients condition or care protocol to the trained staff.
To undertake HLS training annually and recognise deteriorating patients and assist if an emergency situation occurs To make legible entries in patient documentation, including instructions, requests for investigations, changes in care protocols or patient conditions, with all entries being counter-signed by a trained nurse Convey any verbal instructions and messages to the appropriate person Participate in Face to Face and Online Training and Staff Meetings Assist with the handling and movement of patients in line with Manual Handling Regulations as trained Escort patients to other departments Undertake observations of blood pressure, pulse, temperature, urinalysis, height and weight, BMI and glucose monitoring and recording results in documentation and conveying results to a trained nurse.
Ensure out of range results are immediately conveyed to trained staff Perform diagnostics as part of the pre assessment clinic process.
Collection, recording and delivery of specimens within competence.
Venepuncture within competence.
ECGs within Competence Assist with and participate in multiple procedure clinics within competence Assist with medication administration of eye drops only in eye clinics only when deemed competent and trained and in line with competencies and when competency documents are complete Assist with medication storage processes only when deemed competent and trained and in line with competencies and when competency documents are complete Assist consultants such as checking expiry numbers and batch numbers of medications they are administering, but only when deemed competent and competency document is complete.
Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
Participate in the IP&C and Cleaning of the equipment and department Stock up the unit with consumables and monitor stock levels Participate in the monitoring, servicing and checks of equipment and report any faults in equipment.
Undertake dressing procedures following local recommendations, complying with infection control principles and practice.
Give accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own competence.
Provide support and encouragement to patients to promote independence as appropriate.
Act as a chaperone, when requested.
