Applicants are invited to join the mortuary team to assist in the provision of a safe, secure, effective and comprehensive mortuary service for the needs of NHSGG&C, Crown Office Procurator Fiscal Services and the wider community.
The role involves performing a range of Mortuary associated tasks, including autopsy work, liaising with funeral directors, assisting and advising bereaved families, cleaning & maintaining work environment and equipment, and completion of all required documentation.
You will work collaboratively with all other Mortuary personnel and all colleagues and visitors to the Mortuary department.
The main mortuary is based at the QEUH with various satellite mortuaries based throughout NHS GGC.
Qualified APT applicants should possess the Royal Institute of Public Health (RSPH) Level 4 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology (or demonstrable equivalent knowledge).
Applicants interested in training as an APT should possess the minimum entry qualifications to be accepted for the RSPH Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology.
NHSGG&C Mortuary Services' acceptance criteria is 3 Higher Grades at Grade C or above or qualification to HNC/SVQ level 3 or equivalent.
Trainee APT applicants will be required to undertake a comprehensive training programme as a Trainee Anatomical Pathology Technician which will involve working at the main Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Mortuary, and the various satellite mortuaries operated by NHSGG&C.
Trainee APT's will undertake the RSPH Level 3 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology and once qualified will undertake further specialist training with a requirement to complete the RSPH Level 4 Diploma in Anatomical Pathology.
Staff are required to work in all autopsy areas of the mortuary service including adult and paediatric covering both hospital and fiscal post mortem requirementsYou must also possess:good literacy and numeracy skillsgood time management and organisational skillsexcellent interpersonalteamwork and communication skillsand demonstrable knowledge of confidentiality and Data Protection policies.
You should also have experience of working with the public, preferably in a hospital environment, and should ideally have experience of working with the deceased.
