What you'll do Work with the full life cycle of app development from early feasibility of new apps to supporting live updates to millions of customers.
Encounter a wide range of web technologies as we integrate cutting edge and established apps from partners around the globe.
Investigate and isolate issues with new and existing apps.
Deep dive into the cross functional problems that occur and provide analysis and resolutions to the development teams.
Focus on optimisation of memory and performance in areas such as graphics and streaming to ensure a stable App yet pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve as new apps hit the market.
Write test apps and support tools to help our partners work more efficiently on our platforms.
Write support documentation, such as user guides and tech notes, for third party developers.
Create and publish application packages, known as widgets, using the tools provided by the Apps Integration and other teams.
Input to tool development to further streamline this activity is encouraged.
Support our colleagues at Comcast as they familiarise themselves with the architecture of Apps on the EntOS platform.
Work closely with the Product team bridging the gap between what the customer sees (product experience) and what is already possible or required to achieve that within EntOS (technical capabilities).
Work closely with the Apps Delivery team providing essential technical support and guidance through the development lifecycle of each app.
Provide recommendations for the way forward in decision making situations and question decisions as appropriate to ensure all options have been considered.
Work closely with the Quality Assurance and Product Quality team in defining appropriate test and monitoring strategies.
Be responsible for the many communication channels we use to support our partners from traditional emails to instant messaging and tracking tools such as Atlassian JIRA and Confluence.
What you'll bring Great communication skills.
Worked in a software development or integration role before and familiar with tools and processes involved on embedded platforms.
A (detailed) knowledge of a Linux operating system and commonly associated tools.
Experience in multi-threaded, multi-process environments, memory management, performance optimisation and techniques to address the constraints of embedded platforms.
A methodical approach to analysing and solving problems.
The ability to context switch and multi-task.
Flexibility to work at times that suit you and our partners.
Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial : Javascript, C++, C, HTML/CSS.
An existing knowledge of web browsers, web app development and media streaming would be useful.
