Maintenance TechnicianLocation: Bolton, Manchester, UKType: Full-timeSalary: £38,500Role OverviewWe’re looking for a proactive Maintenance Technician to join a high-volume manufacturing environment. You’ll ensure production lines and machinery operate at maximum efficiency, carrying out preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns, and performing fault-finding on mechanical, electrical, and robotic equipment.Key ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot, repair, and maintain PLC-controlled production equipmentPlan and perform preventative maintenance on machineryImprove and modify assembly/test equipment and transfer systemsMaintain electrical and mechanical site services/plantSupport the installation of new equipmentIdentify and suggest process improvements based on maintenance and fault findingsKey RequirementsONC/HNC or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical; City & Guilds 3, NVQ 2 & 3, or Time Served Apprenticeship2+ years’ experience in high-volume manufacturingExperience in repair, maintenance, and process improvementSkilled in fault finding on PLC-controlled and robotic equipmentKnowledge of hydraulics and pneumatic systemsExperience in fitting, fabrication, and machining is a plusAbility to work independently and exercise initiativeStrong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organisation, problem-solving, and multitasking abilitiesUnderstanding of preventative maintenance schedules and safe engineering practicesSkills & CompetenciesLogical approach to diagnosing equipment faultsSelf-supervising while collaborating with production teamsAbility to manage multiple activities simultaneouslyCommitment to Health & Safety and safe engineering practicesThis role offers the chance to work in a dynamic, technical environment with opportunities for skill development and hands-on experience across mechanical, electrical, and robotic systems.
