About the Company: We're looking for exceptional architects and designers to join our London studio at SMC Design.As a key member of the team, you'll be responsible for developing world class designs, to ensure the success of our projects for a multitude of brands within the maritime and hospitality industry.About the Role: Senior Designer / Project ManagerEducation:Educated to a relevant degree or diploma level with 10 years’ post grad experienceApplicable knowledge of project management methodologies.Outline:As a Senior Interior Designer/Project Manager you would have successfully led a team from inception to completion for a period of 10 years, demonstrating your proven skills at delivering exceptional design, with experience of working on site.The Senior Interior Designer/Project Manager will be able to show and provide portfolio evidence of constantly improving the success of projects, control of budgets with a strategic mindset to deliver profitability throughout. You will able to show expert concept layout skills as well as creativity and the ability to adhere to SMC brand ideals.Skills:Ability to create and develop conceptual designs including the skill of using colour and textureExperience in using CAD software fluently in 2D and 3DKnowledge of Vectorworks would be advantageousSkilled in the use of Microsoft Office especially Word, Excel, and PowerPointKnowledge of FF&E selection (materials, finishes, detailing and scheduling)Self-confident and receptive to constructive feedbackAbility to manage time, generate/manage schedules and workflow of projects efficientlyQuality experience dealing with contractors and sub-teams on site including Architects and EngineersExcellent communication skills including verbal, written and visualExceptional attention to detailAbility to understand and generate plans creatively using sketches and CAD softwareProven track record of 10 years in a Project Management field.Familiar with project reporting and documentation requirements.Good communication skills & ability to present at a high level.Proven ability in mentoring and assisting junior and middleweight designers Knowledge of producing client proposals at a high level to assist the directors Strong interpersonal skills, detail oriented and able to manage and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneouslyResponsibilities:Presenting to clients at steering committee meetings.Managing a project efficiently, to program and budgetShow leadership and initiative in managing projects, schedules, and project timelines. Proactive about managing deadlines and client expectations.Managing and briefing design team on live projects, including control and sign-off of their project time logs and attendance.Providing support for members within the team, delegating lower priority work and maintaining team budgeted hours. Building and growing client relationships. You are expected to use your initiative on following up on new business opportunities and attend networking events within the industry Maturing existing client relationships to pursue repeat and existing businessVisualisation and explanation of concepts to othersDeveloping detailed designs and choosing materialsGoing to site and working closely with sub-contractors and clientsAccountable for project deliverables and the approval of project outputTaking part in senior management meetings when requested Recommending ways of improving SMC productivity, efficiency and strategy Maintaining client satisfaction and profitability in regard to all projects you are involved in. Responsibility to the Director and other members of SMC Design staff. You have direct responsibility for organising and controlling your personal team and all others who you may become involved with. Acting upon all decisions made with and by Directors in relation to the development and continued success of SMC Design.
