About this opportunity…

We're looking for someone who wants to develop their engineering skillset. We’ll support you to be able to be able to take on technical challenges and develop your understanding of how model and calculation solutions and services are developed, tested and implemented. If this excites you then you would be an asset to our team

This role sits within our Model and Calc Deployment Lab who are looking to deliver world class prudential models in line with LBG regulatory commitments and to build a world class prudential model development capability. We work using agile delivery practices, so a self-led individual capable of accurately estimating and planning their own work would be valued highly.

As a Senior Engineer, you’ll play a key role in our continued transformation journey by:

  • Helping us define and communicate our engineering strategy, methods, and approaches; working with others to implement and embed within our end-to-end engineering activity.

  • Working with teams and partners to define, agree and implement optimal approaches; utilising the right tools and techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes for the business.

  • Leading, inspiring, and managing individuals to continually improve and develop their engineering knowledge and capabilities, working in collaboration with other leaders to maximise the benefit of this capability within our teams.

About us…

What you’ll get involved with…

  • Design, develop, maintain, and improve our Model and Metric Calculator processes to support regulatory and prudential change with high quality solutions and providing oversight and leadership to help others do the same.

  • Building data, model and calculation pipelines for current and future modelling and reporting solutions

  • Implement and embody engineering standards, using constructive feedback to create opportunities for learning.

  • Work with the Product Owner and customers to understand, refine and prioritise items for the feature team backlog.

  • Using strong problem-solving skills and a combination of technical knowledge, experience, and judgement to identify available options and clearly set-out the way forward.

What you’ll need…

  • Passion for software and data engineering, adopting the mindset of a curious engineer.

  • Cloud understanding, particularly GCP.

  • Experience of Python, DBT, SQL, Pandas, or other open-source technologies used for building and implementing solutions.

  • Ability to understand business requirements and create business ready solutions.

  • Show well-developed interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, particularly the ability to convey key business information arising from complex issues to non-technical people.

It would be great if you also had…

  • Regulatory calculation experience

  • Data engineering background and good knowledge of agile development practices.

  • Insights into industry solutions for data management, storage and analytics coupled with experience of financial data, including Credit Risk, Capital and Impairment processes.

  • Experience with either of – Docker, Kubernetes, Helm

And it is why we especially welcome applications from under-represented groups. We are disability confident. So, if you would like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes…
