We provide support and opportunities to our employees to achieve their full potential and cultivate a rewarding career.The RoleWe have an opportunity for a Senior Technical Safety Engineer to join our Applied Science Practice in Aberdeen, UK, where we use our expert knowledge to develop technical and bespoke solutions for our clients.The role is dependent upon the experience and skillset of the selected applicant but will require support for projects across a wide range of disciplines, with a focus on technical safety / risk and hazard analysis using empirical and thermo-fluids / fluid mechanics models, and regular interaction with clients to identify their needs and project opportunities. The successful candidate will support ongoing work in the energy sector and the development of our decarbonisation agenda.ResponsibilitiesFire and explosion risk assessment for offshore facilitiesHazard Modelling for fracking operationsRisk assessment for wind turbinesFire load response analysis and vessel failure analysisFacility Siting StudiesQualitative and Quantitative Risk AnalysisBattery and hydrogen vehicle hazard analysis for bus testing facilityConcept development design of small-scale microgrid systemCFD fire and explosion risk assessment for offshore facilitiesOnshore gas transmission pipeline risk assessmentRequirementsA strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills - facilitating positive internal and client relationships. Excellent technical writing skills for engineering consulting applications are required, as are engineering/scientific problem-solving abilities. Degree (Masters and/or PhD preferred) in Engineering or a related subject (e.g. physics, chemistry, mathematics) and must be able to demonstrate an understanding of fundamental principles and problem solving.Strong computer literacy is required with an enthusiasm to learn new applications and packages.Knowledge of programming languages is desirable.Due to the nature of the work, the successful candidate will need to be able to obtain UK Government security clearance.
