As the business continues to experience fast international growth, the finance team is looking for an agile accountant with a broad range of skills. This is a fantastic time to join Aurora Energy Research, and an opportunity to help shape the finance function.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in the preparation of monthly management information, including consolidated financial statements, segmented P&L accounts, balance sheet, intercompany reconciliations, indirect cash flow statement, and accompanying commentaries for senior managementPerform detailed analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including intercompany balances, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepanciesHandle end-to-end financial reporting for the parent company and ensure consistent reporting across all subsidiariesPrepare timely and accurate monthly and annual consolidated financial results for the Group in accordance with UK GAAPReview and oversee the statutory reporting for multiple legal entities within the Group to ensure compliance with local regulationsSupporting external financial audits, including preparation of supporting schedules, working papers, and ensuring timely responses to auditorsBe the go-to technical expert on accounting matters and ensure adherence to the Group’s accounting policies and standardsMaintain a strong financial control environment by ensuring effective financial controls are in place and adhered toMonitor and enforce financial policies, controls, and procedures across the business, ensuring consistent application across all entitiesLead initiatives to drive continuous process improvement and efficiency within the finance department, identifying opportunities to streamline financial operationsLead the project to transition to IFRS in FY26Deputize for the Group Financial ControllerAny other ad hoc projects as agreed with the Group Financial ControllerWhat we are looking forRequired attributes:Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with at least 5 years of experience in a similar roleIn-depth knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, with a proven ability to apply technical accounting principlesExperience in risk identification, process improvement, and the development of internal controls to safeguard financial assetsPrevious experience in the preparation of consolidated financial statements for a multinational organization is a mustProven experience in fast-paced, asset-light, service-based, or high-growth industries, with a strong track record of delivering resultsExcellent written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and conciselyStrong influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to challenge and support management decisionsHighly analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detailAdvanced Excel skills, with proficiency in data analysisAn innovative thinker with the ability to create and implement new solutions to financial challengesExperience collaborating with stakeholders at all levels within an organization, including senior management and external auditorsWhat we offerPrivate Medical InsuranceDental InsuranceParental SupportSalary-Exchange PensionEmployee Assistance Programme (EAP)Local Oxford DiscountsCycle-to-work SchemeFlu JabsAt AER, we are committed to offering flexibility in the way we work.
