Data Engineering Lead (Market Data)

We are seeking an experienced Market Data Engineering Lead to drive the setup, configuration, and optimization of a market data platform that supports trading and risk management operations.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

This role is ideal for a hands-on, adaptable leader experienced in managing real-time market data platforms and dedicated to lead the integration and configuration of a market data platform (e.g., KDB+ or OneTick) to meet the organization’s real-time and historical data needs. implementing scalable solutions in a fast-paced trading environment. A strong technical foundation in Python, with familiarity in Java or C#, and knowledge of financial market structures is essential. Experience in mentoring junior engineers and a commitment to data quality are also key.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the integration and configuration of a market data platform (e.g., KDB+ or OneTick) to meet the organization’s real-time and historical data needs.
  • Design and operationalize data pipelines for batch, streaming, and event-based processing.
  • Implement workflows for data ingestion, price snapshots, and end-of-day processes aligned with trading and risk requirements.
  • Utilize time-series databases and cloud technology to enhance data storage and processing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including traders, quants, and risk specialists, to ensure timely and accurate data delivery.
  • Extend the platform’s capabilities by building custom APIs and components in Python, and when necessary, Java or C#, tailored to specific business needs.
  • Lead and mentor a team of market data engineers, fostering best practices in coding, documentation, and data governance.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement automation solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through robust validation and error-handling mechanisms.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with market data platforms (e.g., KDB+, OneTick), including platform setup, optimization, and customization.
  • Advanced skills in Python for developing data workflows, with experience in Java or C# for custom integrations.
  • Proven experience managing complex data pipelines and implementing data quality controls.
  • In-depth understanding of financial instruments and market structures.
  • Strong team leadership abilities and a collaborative working style.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or related field; relevant certifications in financial information systems are a plus.
